Bowers Blasting as Day 2 Bubble Approaches

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Derek Bowers
Derek Bowers

While several players remaining in the field hold stacks of over 300,000, a quick scan of the room sees Derek Bowers with the only stack above the 400,000 mark.

In a recent pot he defended his small blind versus a middle position raise and a call from the button.

The {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} flop was checked through, but on the {2-Diamonds} turn, Bowers led out for 10,000.

He got folds from his two opponents to collect the pot and extend his chip lead a bit.

"Boston" Rob Really Max Late Registers, Triples, Busts

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
"Boston" Rob Mariano
"Boston" Rob Mariano

"Boston" Rob Mariano registered for the tournament during the dinner break, but while his chips were in play since the start of Level 10, the Survivor star was nowhere to be seen until just a few minutes ago.

With just 3,500 in chips, he got it in preflop with {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} against his opponent's {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}, but managed to score a runout of {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{9-Spades}{q-Clubs}{8-Hearts} to win the pot with a pair of kings, essentially tripling up with the blinds and antes.

Shortly after that, he moved all in again for 13,500 and received folds from the rest of the table to boost his stack to almost 20,000.

But not long after that, he got it in again preflop with {7-}{4-} versus joseph Rowe's {a-}{q-} and after a runout of {q-}{4-}{2-}{3-}{9-}, the winner of the RGPS Cleveland Ambassador Bounty tournament was eliminated, ending his cameo appearance in the main event.

Mackiewicz's Day Ends in Rough Fashion

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Kristan Mackiewicz
Kristan Mackiewicz

Kristan Mackiewicz was just seen leaving the tournament area, but on her way out, she graciously passed along the details of her elimination.

After losing the majority of her stack in a cooler situation when she got top set of queens in on the flop against an opponent with aces, the opponent hit an ace on the river to leave her short.

A little while after that, she moved all in from the button for 34,000 over a raise by Nicholas Lanzi in the cutoff.

Lanzi called with {a-}{j-} versus Mackiewicz's {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}. The board brought her no help and the Niagara region crusher's first trip to the Jack Cleveland Casino ended unceremoniously.
