Prevost With Piles

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Clarence Prevost
Clarence Prevost

Papa Karn opened to 2,000 on the button and was three-bet to 5,500 by Clarence Prevost in the big blind. Karn called.

The flop came {k-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Prevost continuation-bet 3,500. Karn thought for a couple of moments and sent his cards to the muck.

Prevost added to his stack, which is beginning to look like that of a city skyline, and he now appears to be closing in on 150K, the largest in the field with a full room of players still in contention.

Updated Counts

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Several players who were eliminated earlier have been spotted in new seats, including the likes of Mo Nuwwarah and Jeff Grimes. Both players quickly found doubles, and now sit above 50K and 40K, respectively.

Meanwhile, Johnnie Moreno was on the other side of an all-in situation, recently losing with pocket aces to pocket jacks after all the chips went in before the flop. He now finds himself with less than 10 big blinds.

Maras Doubles With the Nuts

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

A player in early position opened to 2,400 and received a call from the cutoff. Jon Maras re-jammed for 12,000 in the cutoff and the original raiser called, with the cutoff folding behind to let the two have at it.

Maras: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Opponent: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Maras picked up four additional outs to Broadway on {q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Clubs} and caught one immediately thereafter on the turn {j-Diamonds}, giving him the nuts. The river {9-Spades} gave his opponent a meaningless set of nines, and Maras earned the double.

A pair of events kicked off the RunGood Poker Series "Contenders" Tour on Tuesday night, the second of which was the staple Event #2: $135 Pro Bounty.

After late registration closed, 235 entries were tallied with the top 24 places set to be paid. When all was said and done, Brian "TheGoldenBlazer" Frenzel found himself as the last man standing and earned the first-place prize of $5,872.

The event was Frenzel's first event as a RunGood guest ambassador, per the RGPS Twitter, and was also his third RGPS final table, as he finished in 8th place in the Jamul $575 Main Event last September and took 3rd in the $550 RunGood All-Stars Pro-Am Invitational, which was held this past December at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas.

Grimes Getting Back In

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante
Jeff Grimes
Jeff Grimes

"See ya tomorrow," said Jeff Grimes, stopping by PokerNews to confirm he had been eliminated from the tournament. Moments later, he was informed that the alternate list only had a handful of players waiting and opted to take another shot at the action tonight.

With play into Level 7, Day 1 is over halfway over and it shouldn't be long until he has a fresh stack of 20,000 once more.

Kulbe Turns the Nuts

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Lucas Kulbe had 2,000 in front of him in middle position and action was back on him, facing a re-jam from the small blind for 5,600. Kulbe called.

All-In Player: {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}
Kulbe: {a-Spades}{9-Spades}

The flop came {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades} to give Kulbe the nut flush draw.

"It's never easy," said another player at the table. Regardless of whether it was easy or hard, the turn {2-Spades} locked up the pot and knockout for Kulbe with the nut flush and the pot was sent his way after the river {6-Clubs} completed the runout.
