The next RunGood Poker Series (RGPS) champion will be crowned this weekend as the RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event in San Diego is about to get underway. The $575 buy-in tournament kicks off today at 7 p.m. local time with Day 1a.

The RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event has a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000 and is expected to surpass that as players have three starting flights to choose from. Day 1b will commence on Saturday, Feb. 5 at noon, while Day 1c will get underway later that evening at 7 p.m.

Players will begin with a stack of 20,000 chips and blind levels of 100/100. Blind levels will last for 30 minutes in duration through Level 12, at which point they will increase to 45 minutes. The tournament allows for unlimited re-entry up until the start of Level 9.

Day 1 will break either after Level 12 or at the tournament director’s discretion. The remaining players at the end of each starting flight will return for Day 2 on Sunday, Feb. 6 at noon, which will play down to a winner.

The eventual winner of the RGPS Jamul Casino Main Event will earn the lion’s share of the prize pool, as well as an exclusive invitation and $800 seat and stipend package to the RGPS: All-Stars Pro-am Event at PokerGo Studios in December 2022.

A handful of RunGood ambassadors will be taking their shot in the Jamul Casino Main Event, including Jamie Kerstetter, Joe Stapleton, Julie Cornelius, “Boston” Rob Mariano and Kris Burchfield.

PokerNews’ very own Chad Holloway will also be among the players on the felt after winning a seat through an online satellite on ClubGG. You can read about his experience turning a $49.99 monthly subscription into a Main Event tournament seat here.

Last month, California’s Kasey Orr won the RGPS Thunder Valley Main Event and earned a payday of $65,728 after reaching a heads-up deal in a tournament that set an RGPS turnout record with 851 entries.
