Ghassemi's Superior Play Ousts Holloway

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Chad Holloway
Chad Holloway

Level 14 Blinds 2k/4k/4k

After Chad Holloway limped from the small blind, Pedram Ghassemi opened to 12,000 and then Holloway limp-jammed for 73,000.

Although this move is usually associated with super strong ranges, Ghassemi made the call anyways to put Holloway at risk.

Chad Holloway: QQ
Pedram Ghassemi: A10

Holloway was in great shape to double here, but the runout of 3102A5 gave Ghassemi two-pair on the turn to defeat Holloway's queens and sent him to the rail in brutal fashion.

After a preflop betting war, Donald Helmig and James Schipsi got all of the chips into the middle, with Helmig at risk.

Donald Helmig: 44
James Schipsi: AQ

Miraculously, the runout of K23103 meant Helmig's pocket fours held t win the pot for a double-up.

Chad Finds a HolloWAY

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Chad Holloway
Chad Holloway

Level 12: Blinds 1.5k/3k/3k

Chad Holloway opened from early position to 5,500 and Ryan Seekley in the cutoff jammed for 65,000. The action folded back to Holloway who made the call to put himself at risk and the cards were on their backs.

Chad Holloway: 88
Ryan Seekely: AK

Holloway started off in the lead with his pocket pair, but the flop of 75K quickly changed that as Seekley hit his king. Holloway improved on the turn 9 to a gutshot straight draw, but he did not need it as he hit the 8 on the river to make a set of eights to scoop the pot for a double as the table erupted.

Seekley was then left with only 10,000 but managed to double up the very next hand to bring him back to 27,000.

Awadda Spades Eliminates Goldsmith

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Ryan Awwad
Ryan Awwad

Level 11: Blinds 1.5k/2.5k/2.5k

Ryan Awwad opened from under-the-gun to 5,500 and pretty much everyone at the table called until it got to Richard Goldsmith in the small blind who moved all in for his remaining 10,000.

This opened the door for Awwad to shove over the top for close to 100,000 and everyone tossed in their cards to let them duke it out.

Richard Goldsmith: 68
Ryan Awwad: 1010

The flop came out AJ8 to give Goldsmith some hope with his pair of eights, but the turn 5 quickly dashed that as it gave Awwad a flush and he was left drawing dead.

The meaningless 4 came on the river and Awwad was pushed the pot while Goldmith exited the tournament area.

Mehta is Over the Moon

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Level 10: Blinds 1k/2k/2k

Short-stacked Christopher Moon moved all in for his last 9,000 followed by a shove over the top by Akash Mehta for 46,000.

The other players quickly got out of the way and the cards were tabled.

Christopher Moon: J10
Akash Mehta: KK

"I mean, that hand is very live," Mehta commented to Moon, but the flop of 467 gave Mehta an even bigger advantage as Moon's outs were cut in half.

The turn 10 gave Moon a shred of hope but the 7 on the river sealed his fave and he was eliminated.

"It's always a sweat," someone at the table commented, probably Chad Holloway.

"Yeah, some sweat," Moon retorted as he made his way to the exit.
