The first event of The RunGood Poker Series Checkpoint was the $250 Opener Event, which drew out 115 entrants to play. The prize pool grew to $23,000 and saw 15 players find their way to a cash.

The event eventually came down to just three players, being Ryan Phan, Jeremy Hendricks and Duster Ellis. After some deal talks, Ellis was the one holding the ring in a near even chop between himself, Phan and Hendricks.

Ellis has become a staple of The RunGood Poker series over the past few years he has played it. Making deep runs at many stops, and amassing 24 prior cashes in events all around the country. “It feels good to get the monkey off my back,” Ellis said when referring to the new jewelry he took home after the tournament “so many close calls and it feels good to take one down.
