The first flight of The Rungood Poker Series Road Trip $600 Main Event at Jamul Casino in San Diego, California has come to a close. 90 entrants paid their fee to get into the tournament, ensuring that 12 players would advance into Day 2 and secure themselves a minimum cash.

Leading the way is Derrick Yamada with a whopping 942,000 who caught fire late in the evening by first rivering a one-outer with pocket tens against Scott Auld’s pocket aces and then eliminated Sando Yin on the bubble when he hit a running flush versus a flopped set. Coming in a distant second is Randy Shamo with 426,000 followed byJeremy Clemons with 189,000 to round out the top three.

RGPS Ambassadors Daniel Hughes, Caitlin Comeskey, Nikki Limo, and Taylor Howard all failed to advance but will be back in full force tomorrow. Local regs Mark Feinberg, and Tavish Margers will also have to look to the following flights in the hopes to bag for the second day.

The 12 survivors will return to play on Sunday, November 19, with blinds at 4,000/8,000 unless one of the following flights finds an earlier endpoint. Tomorrow, Saturday, November 18 at 11 a.m. will see the kickoff of Day 1b and 6 PM will be the beginning of Day 1c, as well as the last chance to secure a bag for the second day. With unlimited re-entry in all tournaments and registration open until level 9, players will have ample opportunity to come play for their shot at RGPS glory.

Yamada Drills the One-Outer Against Auld's Aces

Level 11 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Derrick Yamada
Derrick Yamada

Scott Aulds opened to 8,000 and then the player behind him moved all in for around 30,000. Derrick Yamada then made the call but Aulds decided to raise it up again by moving all in for around 130,000 effective.

Yamada went deep into the tank for this one but eventually decided to make the call, putting himself at risk.

Opponent: A10
Derrick Yamada: 1010
Scott Aulds: AA

Aulds was in a great position to win a massive pot with his opponents drawing extremely slim, and everything was going great on the turn 8537, but the river came crashing the case 10 to give Yamada the win.

The table let out a collective groan as Yamada hit the one-outer to claim the huge pot while Aulds was left with only a few big blinds.

Luckily for Aulds, he has been able to spin it back up to around 26,000 so don't count him out just yet.

Let Comeskey COOK!

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Caitlin Comeskey
Caitlin Comeskey

Before the flop, the middle-position player moved all in for 12,700 and then Caitlin Comeskey decided she wanted all those chips for herself and jacked up the price to 30,000. This resulted in hasty folds around the table for a successful isolation and the cards were tabled.

Middle Position: 44
Caitlin Comeskey: A7

Comeskey would need a little help to pull this one off, and the flop of 105Q was of no help, but the turn A sure was as it gave her the lead. The river was the 8 to secure her win while another player groaned as he claimed to have folded pocket eights.

"Well done everyone! You all folded perfectly!" Comeskey took a bow as she raked in the pot while simultaneously ordering another cocktail.

After a preflop betting war, RunGood Ambassador Daniel Hughes moved all in preflop and was called by Susan Millstone-Schacke to put him at risk.

Daniel Hughes: QQ
Susan Millstone-Schacke: AK

Hughes started off ahead in this classic flip, but the runout was not kind to him as it came 949810 to give Millstone-Schacke a flush to send him to the rail, vowing to return.
