After a full day of poker, Day 1b and Day 1c of the $600 RGPS Jamul Main Event have come to a close, with 1b bringing in 126 entrants and 1c with 86. In total, the three flights attracted 299 runners to generate a prize pool of $155,480 with a top prize of $33,565 and a min-cash of $855. 39 players will take their seats tomorrow, all with the hopes of getting their hand on that sweet prize money.

Leading the way from today was Stanley Dixon of Day 1c who caught fire late in the night and managed to bag up an impressive 675,000. He will be joined tomorrow by the Day 1b chip leader Daniel Lujano who bagged 476,000 as well as the overall Day 1 chip leader Derrick Yamada with his monster stack of 942,000.

Florian Pesce Eliminated as Bubble Bursts

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Florian Pesce
Florian Pesce

Florian Pesce moved all in preflop and was called by sleepy Steve Hoang to put him at risk.

Florian Pesce: A10
Steve Hoang: Q10

Pesce threw up his hands when he saw what he was up against, for he knew the queen-ten was a hot hand tonight.

True to form, the queen appeared right in the window of the QK3 flop to give Hoang the lead, and the runout of 47 further improved him to a flush to send out Pesce on the stone bubble.

"Should have just stayed asleep," Pesce muttered as he made his way to the exit.

Howard Falls to Dixon's Dirty River

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Taylor Howard
Taylor Howard

After everyone folded around and Stan Dixon limped from the small blind, Taylor Howard moved all in from the big blind and was snap-called by Dixon to put him at risk.

Taylor Howard: A2
Stan Dixon: J9

Howard went into this battle ahead with his ace high, and he scored a favorable flop of A34 for top pair and a straight draw. But then the turn came the J to give Dixon a pair...

"Oh, don't do it," Howard pleaded as he stood up, but it was too late as the 9 peeled off on the river to give Dixon two-pair to knock him out near the bubble.

Blind Sextuple-Up for Ivantey

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Daria Ivantey
Daria Ivantey

Level 12: Blinds 2,000/4,000/4,000

Left with a single big blind, Daria Ivantey got her 4,000 chips in the middle against Amy Devaudreuil and one other player.

The two players on the side checked all the way through the J946J board and tabled their cards. The first player showed 79 for nines and jacks while Amy Devaudreuil showed KQ for just jacks with a king. Then they turned to Ivantey who hadn't even looked at her cards yet as she had moved in blind. She then picked them up and let out a little shout of delight and tabled 1010 for tens and jacks to take the pot of 24,000.

Wiley Spikes the King

Level 15 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Brendan Wiley
Brendan Wiley

Level 11: Blinds 1,500/3,000/3,000

After a raise to 30,000 preflop by Taylor Howard, Brendan Wiley moved all in for 69,500. When action got back around to him, Howard paused for a few moments before he made the call to put him at risk.

Brendan Wiley: AK
Taylor Howard: A9

Howard did not like to see that he was dominated, but the flop of 395 changed things when he made a pair of nines to take the lead.

"NO!" Wiley shouted and banged the table, which seemed to somehow have some effect as the K immediately rolled off on the turn to swing the lead back in his favor.

The 4 came on the river to change nothing and Wiley was pushed the pot for the double-up while Howard was cut down to 75,000

Daniel Hughes
Daniel Hughes

Level 11: Blinds 1,500/3,000/1,500

Daniel Hughes moved all in preflop for his last 30,000 and was called by Nick Wehr to put him at risk of elimination.

Daniel Hughes: 44
Nick Wehr: A10

Hughes was ahead with his pocket pair going into this fight, but the flop of 8A2 put him pretty far behind as Wehr paired his ace. The runout of 79 failed to provide Hughes with a four and he was sent to the rail.

Vankrey Triples Up

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Ronda Vankrey
Ronda Vankrey

On a three-way flop of KJ6, Daniel Lujano led out for 50,000 and was called by fellow big stack Keith Eoll. Then Ronda Vankrey moved all in for 58,000 total and both players tossed the extra 15,000 in the middle.

Lujano and Eoll then checked through the 109 runout and they tabled their hands for the side pot.

Eoll showed J4 for a pair of jacks and a busted flush draw while Lujano flipped over AK for top pair to take the small side pot. After that was settled, Vankrey then proudly flipped over 66 for a flopped set of sixes to take down the main pot for a big triple-up.

One Time?

Level 12 : Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Rip Fritzer
Rip Fritzer

After Rip Fritzer and another player were already all in, the action ended on Kevin 'BigKev' Meyers who had a decision to make.

"Man, I think the right play is to just stick it in here," he announced as he stuck his chips in the middle and tabled his cards.

Kevin Meyers: J10
Opponent: AK
Rip Fritzer: AK

"I mean I hate to say it, but I like your hand," Fritzer admitted as he saw he and the other player shared the same hand.

The flop came out Q8Q to give Meyers a gutshot straight draw but the turn killed everything when it came the 5.

"Come on! One time!" Fritzer shouted, unaware that he had already hit his flush and his opponents were drawing stone dead.

Once the river came the 6 he realized what happened and quickly raked in the chips as they were pushed his way while Meyers and the other player made their exit.

The rules are unclear as to whether that counted as his "one time", but time will tell.

Unfortunately, none of the RunGood Ambassador Team of Caitlin Comeskey, Taylor Howard, Nikki Limo, or Daniel Hughes managed to find a bag last night so you better believe they will be out in full force today.

As with Day 1a, players will begin the tournament with 30,000 in chips with blinds beginning at 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Levels will last 30 minutes, with a 15-minute break occurring after every four levels. Registration will remain open until the beginning of level 9, after which the players will play until there is only 12.5% of the field remaining.

The surviving players will guarantee themselves a minimum cash and advance onto Day 2 where levels will be upped to 40-minute levels. Those who do not find a bag on this flight will have ample opportunity tomorrow to fire again. This tournament is unlimited reentry and players who bag multiple times will see their smaller stack taken out of play for a minimum cash, while their bigger stack will remain in play.
