The Destination RunGood series is heating up, and Brian Winter continues to lead the RGPS Player of the Year Race powered by the Global Poker Index.
Winter is coming off two cashes last week and already has a runner-up finish this week at Graton, strengthening his lead as the race begins to wind down.
Jackson Turrentine posted a pair of strong results last week in St. Louis to enter the top 10 rankings.
How it works:
Leaderboard Points: Players will score points based on their performance in RunGood Poker Series events by the Global Poker Index ranking system.
Five Winners: The tally started on August 29, 2023, and end June 1, 2024. The top five players on the leaderboard will win a seat in the 2024 Hendon Mob Mid-Major Championship and a $500 travel stipend.
Immortality: The top player will be featured forever on tour with a RunGood Player of the Year banner.
Action was picked up with cards on their backs between Brett Murray, who was all in and at risk for his final 33,000 and James Palmer who had him at risk.
Brett Murray: K♥6♠
James Palmer: 8♦8♣
"No three outs," said Palmer as he stood out of his chair.
The board ran out 10♦10♠7♥4♥3♠ and Palmer's wish was granted as the RGPS Main Event champion exited the tournament.
"If that hand was at Thunder Valley, you would have won," Allen Kessler said from another table.
The first flight of the Rungood Poker Series Graton has come to its conclusion. A total of 245 entrants tried to make their mark in this flight, in an attempt to secure a piece of the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool. When the dust settled, just 31 made it through to return on Sunday, May 12th.
Leading the way is Justin Chan, who bagged 516,000. The California regular has collected quite a number of cashes over his career, spanning back to 2014 on Hendon Mob. With the chip lead of today’s flight, he has secured himself a spot in the top ten coming into Day 2, with the hopes to take down his first RGPS title.

Not all could find fortune today. Bob Mather was unable to get anything going after a strong start. He joined the rail with the likes of Papa Karn, Ronny Gil, Taylor Howard, and Rungood Ambassador Ben Ludlow. They will have one final chance to make the money in the final flight, beginning at 5 p.m.
Play ended with 25:13, left on the clock in Level 16 with blinds at 5,000/10,000 and a 10,000 big blind ante in Day 1a. The players will return at this level unless a subsequent flight ends earlier than this one.
Reporting will now go on a break. Come back in a couple of hours to see coverage continue with our night flight.
