Gutierrez Sniffs Out a Bluff

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Oscar Gutierrez
Oscar Gutierrez

A player opened the cutoff to 3,000 and Oscar Gutierrez called on the button. The small blind then three-bet to 11,500 and only Gutierrez called.

On the KK9 flop, the small blind continued for 5,000 and Gutierrez flicked in the call.

The turn brought the 4. The small blind fired again for 15,500 and Gutierrez took some chip inventory before he cut out the call.

On the K river, the small blind quickly bet 30,000. Gutierrez, with 35,000 back, got curious after a minute's tank as he called off the majority of his stack.

Small blind: A5
Oscar Gutierrez: AQ

Both players held ace-high but Gutierrez's kicker played as he dragged a huge pot with an impressive hero-call.

Saad Aljoher

Michael Johns opened the cutoff to 10,000 before the small blind jammed for 33,000. In the big blind, Saad Aljoher rejammed and Johns quickly folded.

Small Blind: 33 All in
Saad Aljoher: A10

It was a coinflip scenario with Aljoher needing to connect. The baby pocket pair remained ahead on the J62 flop and the 7 turn. However, the 10 landed on the river to give Aljoher the winner as the field size ticked down to 28 players.

Level 10: Blinds 1,000/2,000

Phil Hellmuth III, son of the poker Hall of Famer, limped under the gun. The player next to act raised to 6,000 and the hijack called. With the action back on Hellmuth, he limp-jammed for 34,000. The original raiser tank-folded before the hijack snapped it off.

Hijack: AK

It was a classic race with Hellmuth staying ahead on the 665 flop. He held through the Q9 runout as the fabled limp-jam worked wonders.
