San Diego Poker Classic $600 Main Event Continues with Day 1c and 1d Flights
The San Diego Poker Classic continues at Jamul Casino Resort, with Day 1c of the $600 Main Event taking place today at 11:00 a.m. local time and Day 1d starting at 6:00 p.m. The annual tournament features a $100,000 guaranteed prize pool, with four Day 1 starting flights taking place over two days. Players who advance from each flight will combine and return for Day 2 on Sunday, August 24, where a winner will be crowned.
Last year's edition of the event attracted 406 runners, and through two starting flights so far, 178 entrants have ponied up the $600 buy-in this year. Only 20 of those competitors will be advancing to Day 2, all of whom have already made the money.
Day 1a saw a total of 86 entries, with 10 players making it through to Day 2. Caleb Overby bagged the overwhelming chip lead with 613,000 and is the overall chip leader thus far.
Day 1b drew even more action, attracting 92 entries with 11 players advancing to Day 2. The chip leader at the end of the night was Ken Morey, who bagged an impressive 555,000.
Tolga Gesli was the only player to make it to the end of both flights and rounds out the podium in the overall counts with 535,000. His stack of 95,000 that he acquired in Day 1a will be removed from play at the start of Day 2.
