Hughes Doubles Karn, Then Hits the River Against Ferguson
Level 8
: Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Daniel Hughes and Papa Karn saw a board of 2♠J♠10♣7♣3♦ where Hughes moved all in from the button. Karn called for 30,000 in the small blind.
Hughes showed Q♠4♠ for a missed flush draw, while Karn had K♣J♦ for top pair to win the pot and double up.
The next hand, Joseph Ferguson opened to 3,000 in the hijack and Hughes shoved for 13,000 in the cutoff. Ferguson called.
Daniel Hughes: K♣9♥
Joseph Ferguson: A♣2♣
"King," Hughes pleaded as the board came 10♦8♠2♠7♣. He didn't catch a king on the river, but he did hit the J♦ to make a straight and earn the double up. "I didn't want a jack. I wanted a king," he said.
