Day 1b hosted a total of 106 entries in the second flight of the RunGood Poker Series Golden Expedition Lake Erie $600 Main Event. In the end, 11 players were permitted to advance to Day 2 of the main event and continue on their journey to capture an RGPS ring and the biggest slice of the $200,000 guarantee.
Jonathan Tackett (871,000) finished the flight as Day 1b chip leader. Tsung-Yi Chuang (747,000) and James Bucaro (467,000) rounded out the top three finishers during the second flight of the main event.

Tackett roared to the top of the chip counts during a critical hand when he took on then chip leader Chuang in a huge pot that saw Tackett capture the Day 1b chip lead. Tackett took a hit when Randy Hockey doubled through him late, but Tackett rebounded when he busted Craig Hyppa to end Day 1b and plant himself firmly at the top of the chip counts. Tackett does not have any logged results at RunGood events, making this his first cash at an RGPS event. Tackett has tallied over $90,000 in live career earnings, per The Hendon Mob.
Chuang was a force to be reckoned with for much of Day 1b. Chuang showed his aggression when he shoved on the river against Alexander Zelinko. His stock continued to rise, and by the time the flight reached Level 14, Chuang had entrenched himself as the chip leader in the room at the time. He hit a bump in the road against Tackett, but showed his willingness to mix it up despite that setback when he busted Steven La Scola to rebound back up the chip counts after faltering earlier.
Bucaro’s story began last night when he made a deep run on Day 1a. He fell short of making the money or bagging, and returned to the Lake Erie Poker Room aiming to finish what he was unable to do the night before. That indeed came to pass as Bucaro not only bagged, but did so with a top three chip count from the second flight of the main event. This is Bucaro’s first cash at a RunGood event after an active Day 1b earned him a spot on Day 2.
Notable three-time WSOP bracelet winner Sean Troha was unable to get any traction on Day 1b. Nicholas Rigby’s Day 1b also did not go his way as he failed to bag during the second flight.
Day 1c is currently underway. Saturday, Oct. 3 is set to host the final two starting flights. Day 1d will begin at 12:15 p.m. while Day 1e will start at 6:15 p.m. Day 2 restart begins at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4.
| Flight | Date | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1d | Sat. Oct. 3 | 12:15 p.m. |
| Day 1e | Sat. Oct. 3 | 6:15 p.m. |
| Day 2 | Sun. Oct. 4 | 12:15 p.m. |
Blind levels are scheduled for 30 minutes for Day 1d, while Day 1e will have 20-minute blind levels. Registration is set to close at the beginning of Level 9 for Day 1d, and will close at the onset of Level 13 for Day 1e. Players may forfeit their stack at the end of Level 8 for Day 1d and Level 12 for Day 1e and re-buy for $600 for a fresh starting stack.
A total of 12.5% rounded down of each starting flight will be in the money. 10% rounded up from each starting flight will be permitted to advance to Day 2. Players are allowed unlimited re-entries and can play each starting flight. If a player qualifies more than once, then they will forfeit their lowest stack(s), receive a $3,000 Double Bag Bonus payout, and take their biggest stack forward.

Jonathan Tackett shoved from the small blind, and Craig Hyppa called for his entire stack from the big blind, as Hyppa was at risk for approximately 150,000.
Craig Hyppa: A♣J♣
Jonathan Tackett: 2♣2♦
The flop hit Tackett's deuces when it came 9♣2♥K♠ as Hyppa fell well behind after the flop.
The 4♠ turn and the 4♥ river upgraded Tackett to a full house as Hyppa fell just short of bagging for Day 2.
Randy Hockey shoved for 152,000 from early position and was called by Jonathan Tackett from the next seat over as Hockey was at risk on the bubble to bag.
Randy Hockey: A♥A♠
Jonathan Tackett: A♦Q♠
The bad news was Hockey was fighting to stay in the tournament and gain the chance to bag for Day 2. The good news was if you could pick a hand, pocket aces might be your choice, as he had Tackett's hand dominated with five to go.
The 10♠8♥A♣ flop gave Hockey top set and command of the hand.
The J♥ turn was ominous as it gave Tackett a gutshot straight draw, but the river did not bring heartbreak as it came the 3♠, awarding Hockey the double.
Level: 17
Blinds: 6,000/12,000
Ante: 6,000
Players are on a 15-minute break. Action will resume at the 6,000/12,000 level. There are 12 players remaining, with 11 spots up for grabs to advance to Day 2.
Tsung-Yi Chuang opened to 20,000 from the hijack. Steven La Scola three-bet to 65,000 from the cutoff. Chuang made the call.
The 9♦Q♥10♦ flop resulted in a check from Chuang. La Scola followed with a bet of 45,000. Chuang called.
The 8♦ turn peeled before Chuang checked again. La Scola went all-in for 180,000 as Chuang went into the tank during a big moment late on Day 1b.
"I don't think I can fold," said Chuang as he made the call and put La Scola at risk.
Steven La Scola: A♦Q♠
Tsung-Yi Chuang: J♦J♣
Chuang held the best hand with a straight, but La Scola had the scary ace of diamonds for a flush draw.
Chuang faded the diamond on the 10♣ river as La Scola hit the payout desk.
Two players busted simultaneously to trim the field from 15 down to 13 players, meaning Day 1b avoided playing hand-for-hand. The remaining 13 players are in the money, with the next two places earning a $900 payout.
A total of 11 players will bag and advance to Day 1b.
