The pot had been built to over 5,000 on a board that read 5♠A♣6♥2♣10♥ when this hand was picked up.
Chase Skonieczny led out for 5,500 from early position. Jeremy Halaska raised to 12,000 from the cutoff.
Skonieczny was not to be outdone and chose to respond with a three-bet to 23,000. Halaska was no longer interested, as he folded and awarded the pot to Skonieczny.
Jeremy Halaska made it 1,000 from under the gun. Darren Gensler called from the cutoff. Liam Gray joined on the button, and James Garr defended his big blind as four players took the flop.
The flop of 10♥7♠2♥ was checked by Garr. Halaska continued for 2,000. Gensler folded, but Gray and Garr called.
Garr and Halaska both checked the A♥ turn. Gray took the opportunity to bet 3,500. Both his opponents folded as Gray took it down on the turn.
Lisa Powers opened to 500 from under the gun. Donald Brooks called from the hijack and Mark Stevens joined on the button. Jason Badeaux opted to put more chips in the pot when he three-bet to 1,200 from the small blind. Powers, Brooks, and Stevens all called.
The Q♥Q♦9♠ flop led to a continuation bet of 1,200 from Badeaux. Powers called. Brooks decided that wasn't enough and chose to raise to 8,500. Stevens went into the tank as he thought about the spot. He opted to fold after some consideration.
Both Badeaux and Powers folded as Brooks took down the pot on the flop.
Michael Miller got the action started with an open to 600 from the cutoff. Darren Gensler called on the button. Eric Ladny and James Garr called from the small and big blind, respectively.
The 9♦7♦7♥ flop was checked around to Gensler on the button, who bet 1,200. Both blinds folded, but Miller made the call.
Miller checked the 6♠ turn. Gensler put out a second barrel for 1,800, and Miller called.
Both players checked the 2♣ river and went to showdown.
Gensler showed A♣9♣ nines up with an ace kicker. It was good, as Miller mucked his hand in response, yielding the pot to Gensler.
Lake Erie Poker Room will host the final day of opening flights, as players will have two final chances to secure their spot on Day 2 of the RunGood Poker Series Golden Expedition $600 Main Event. Thus far, 23 players have advanced to Day 2 and are still in the chase for the main event title and the biggest share of the $200,000 guarantee.
Day 1c wrapped up late last night. The third opening flight hosted 52 players, which allowed six players to advance to the second day of play. The first three flights combined brought the total number of entries to 218. Albert Colaizzi (490,000) finished at the top of the chip counts after the third flight. David Bobkovich (465,000) and Danielle Goldman (410,000) finished second and third in chips, respectively.
Colaizzi has plenty of tournament experience in the Ohio area, racking up over $140,000 in live career earnings, according to The Hendon Mob. This is Colaizzi’s fourth cash at a RunGood event and is his first cash at a RunGood stop since 2024, when he took 37th place in the RGPS Resort Ohio $1,000 Main Event. Colaizzi will have an opportunity to top that when he returns to the felt on Sunday.
David Bobkovich
Bobkovich and Goldman both do not have an extensive record at RunGood stops. The two competitors have earned their first cash at a RunGood stop as they will look to add a significant number to their poker resume with a deep run on Sunday.
Three-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Sean Troha (160,000) managed to bag and advance from Day 1c. Troha is ninth in Ohio’s all-time money list. The North Olmsted native boasts over $3,600,000 in total live career earnings, but the accomplished professional has yet to add a RunGood ring to his mantle. He will have his work cut out for him as he will enter Sunday with a short stack, but Troha will be one to watch should he gain traction on Day 2.
The attention will turn its focus to Day 1d and Day 1e. Day 1d is slated to begin at 12:15 p.m. local time. The flight will feature 30-minute blind levels. Registration will close at the beginning of Level 13. Players may forfeit their stack at the end of Level 12 and re-buy for $600 and receive a fresh starting stack of 40,000. Day 1e will have 20-minute blind levels. Registration is set to close at the onset of Level 13. Players may forfeit their stack at the end of Level 12 and re-buy for $600 for a new starting stack.
