Grabel Finds a Call to Double Off Newman
Level 12
: Blinds 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Charles Newman limped in from under the gun and the small blind also came along before Kevin Grabel raised to 15,000 in the big blind. Only Newman called.
Grabel checked the K♠9♦8♣ flop, and Newman bet 15,000. Grabel called to the 7♣ turn and checked again, and Newman stood up from his seat and announced all in.
"I don't know what to do. Should I stand up, too?" Grabel joked with Newman as he went deep into the tank.
"Take your time. Nobody is going to call the clock," tablemate Remo Lupo told him. Grabel agonized over the decision for several minutes, but he eventually called for his last 159,000.
He showed K♥Q♥ for top pair, while Newman had 10♥7♦ for a pair and straight draw. The A♣ river was safe for Grabel, and he earned the double up.
