Smith Pulls the Stand-Up Trick to Triple
Level 20
: Blinds 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Michael Cheng raised to 80,000 under the gun and Yusuf Buber called in the small blind. Richard Smith then moved all in for 125,000, and Cheng called the floor over to rule on whether he was allowed to reraise. It was determined he could only call Smith's bet, and he and Buber both put in the chips.
Cheng bet 60,000 on the 8♣3♣5♥ flop and Buber called to create a side pot. Both players checked down the K♦ turn and 4♥ river, and Cheng showed A♠Q♣. Buber had A♣6♣ for a missed flush draw, while Smith turned over K♣J♣ for a pair of kings to win the pot and triple up.
"That stand up thing works," he said as he retook his seat.
