Originally from Richmond, Virginia, local poker player Coltrane Conklin has lived in Austin for five years, but has been playing poker at the local scene for over two years.

Conklin sat down with PokerNews to offer some of his thoughts on the first-ever RunGood Poker Series stop at the Lodge Card Club.

“The buyin to guarantee ratio is very good,” Conklin said. “Great action. Lots of tables open and tournaments are really good.”

Conklin shared that he is pleased to see the poker scene, specifically the tournament poker scene in Austin, continue to grow.

“It’s really cool. I think there was a period in Texas where the grey market made it questionable for these big markets to invest,” Conklin said. “It’s exciting to see the scene here in Texas grow.”

Conklin shared that he used to be more of a cash game player, but with the tournament offerings growing in his local area, he stated that he has begun to play more and more tournaments at this point in his poker career.
