Final Two Opening Flights of Inaugural RGPS Pompano Beach Main Event Get Underway With Day 1b at 11 a.m.
A new batch of hopefuls will crowd into the Harrah’s Pompano Beach poker room when Day 1b of the RunGood Passport Season $1,110 Pompano Beach Main Event begins at 11 a.m. local time.
Yesterday’s opening flight was an intimate affair, with 48 players taking a shot at the RunGood Poker Series championship ring. That number should increase dramatically as today is the last chance to chase a share of the $250,000 guaranteed prize pool.
Edward Medoff led the six players who have already secured their spots on Day 2, ending up with 613,000 after a marathon bubble yesterday. Niall Costigan (476,000), Charlemagne Benjamin (290,000), Tom Macey (250,000), Marc Goldman (159,000), and Kevin Hammer (154,000) also made it through and await the survivors from today’s flights.

Players on Day 1b begin with a 40,000 starting stack. Levels will be 30 minutes throughout the day, before being extended to 40 minutes at the start of Day 2. Late registration remains open until the start of Level 9, with unlimited reentries available. The day will conclude once 12.5 percent of the field remains.
Among those expected in the field today are Nick Rigby and Craig Welko, who continued their tense battle for the Player of the Year yesterday. While neither made it through the day, Welko did finish third in the PLO event to extend his narrow lead over Rigby atop the leaderboard.
Day 1b isn’t the last chance to enter, however. There is also a Day 1c flight that begins at 4 p.m. All surviving players then combine for Day 2 tomorrow at noon to play down to a champion. The action on Day 2 will pick up on the earliest finishing time from one of the three starting flights. Yesterday’s opening flight took all the way to Level 19 before the bubble was burst.
