Fedunov Continues Family Tradition

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Daniil Fedunov
Daniil Fedunov

Daniil Fedunov, local tournament player and owner of Crazy D’s Hot Chicken in Reno, Nevada, comes from a poker background as his father, Gennadiy, passed on the hobby. The hobby stuck as both father and son continue their poker journey to this day as mainstays of the local tournament poker scene.

Daniil shared that he and his father were not playing as much for a period of time, but they got the poker bug when Daniil put together a big score in the fall of 2023, which reignited their passion for the game.

“I really like to be able to play in a bigger field. I like the big prize pools and the rings are cool too,” Fedunov said jokingly as he described what he enjoys about the RunGood Poker Series stops at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno.

Fedunov considers himself a tournament player and shared that he doesn’t enjoy the dynamic of cash games versus tournaments. Fedunov has played since he learned from his father and played with his family and friends at home. He continued playing as an adult as he prefers the competitive dynamics of tournaments and likes to strive to make the right decisions, whether he wins or loses.

“It’s just more rewarding for me. Cash games have too many swings. Even though tournaments take a longer time, you have a chance at a big score.”

Fedunov is currently sitting with a healthy stack on Day 1a as he has thus far put together a strong showing as he looks to advance to Day 2 at the RGPS Passport Reno Main Event.
