Hinkle Forces a Fold

Grant Hinkle
Grant Hinkle

With 1,200 in the pot and the {9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs} flop on the felt, Rajasekhar Kola checked in the small blind, and Grant Hinkle bet 600 from middle position. Dustin Lindblad called in the cutoff, as did Kola.

Kola checked the {k-Clubs} turn to Hinkle, who bet 2,000. Lindblad called and Kola folded.

Hinkle bet 5,000 when the {a-Clubs} hit the river, and Lindblad paused for a moment before tossing his {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} face-up on the felt and telling Hinkle, "You got it."

Soja Makes Broadway on Hanson

Doc Hanson
Doc Hanson

Three players invested 1,000 to see a {q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop together, and the small blind checked the action to Brian Soja in the big blind. Soja checked as well, and Doc Hanson bet 1,000. Both the small blind and Soja called.

The {6-Spades} turn was checked through to the {j-Diamonds} river, and the small blind checked again.

"Thirty-five," Soja said before flicking a 5k chip into the pot. Hanson quickly called, and the small blind folded. Soja tabled {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for the nuts, and Hanson showed his {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} and said, "Thought for sure I had that hand!" with a wry grin on his face.

Karn's Full Boat KO's Foe

Papa Karn
Papa Karn

Four players saw a {8-Clubs}{j-Spades}{j-Clubs} flop hit the felt, and action checked to the button, who bet 800. The big blind and under-the-gun players called, and Papa Karn check-raised to 3,300. Only the big blind called.

The big blind elected to jam for 7,700 when the {4-Hearts} hit the turn. Karn quickly called.

Opponent: {j-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Papa Karn: {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

Karn added insult to injury when he filled up on the {k-Diamonds} river, and Karn eliminated his opponent.

Hinkle Coolers His Way to a Dub

Grant Hinkle
Grant Hinkle

With 7,000 already in the middle, Grant Hinkle checked a {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Spades} flop from the small blind, and his opponent in the hijack bet 3,200. Hinkle check-raised to 7,200, and the hijack three-bet shoved. Hinkle quickly called off his remaining 11,500.

Grant Hinkle: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The battle of the overpairs went to Hinkle after the {7-Diamonds} turn and {2-Spades} river failed to crack Hinkle's rockets.

Russell Tears Into Sheets

Tayler Russell

Mikey Wangh checked a {10-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop from the small blind, and Tayler Russell bet 2,500 into the pot of 5,000 from early position. Brett Sheets called on the button, and Wangh folded.

Both players checked the {10-Clubs} turn, and the {6-Spades} fell on the river. Russell bet 3,500, and Sheets called. Russell turned over {k-Spades}{10-Spades} for trip tens, and Sheets mucked.

Hanson's "Not Much" Good Enough

Doc Hanson
Doc Hanson

A player raised to 1,500 from middle position, and Doc Hanson three-bet shoved for 7,100 from the small blind.

"Not much," he told the table as the dealer counted down the stack. It was enough, however, as both the big blind and the original raiser folded.

"Prettiest card in the deck!" Hanson said, twirling the {a-Spades} up on the felt before raking in the pot.

Sciscoe On a Massive Heater

Timothy Sciscoe
Timothy Sciscoe

"Quad three's twice! Two straight flushes! Five boats!" an animated Doc Hanson told the PokerNews media desk with a grin, referring to his former tablemate Timothy Sciscoe. "This guy has hit everything! He just knocked me out, I made the nut flush, he goes runner-runner quad threes!" Hanson, who indicated he's "going to Hooters" for now and is firing Day 1c later instead of rebuying, was still all smiles in telling the good fortune of Sciscoe.

A quick look over the table saw Sciscoe continuing the blazing hot streak, with his {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} making a full house against the {a-}{q-} of his opponent on a {7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} board to eliminate them. Sciscoe, like Tim Rystrom in the Day 1a flight, has soared to a monstrous chip lead in the middle stages.

McLamb Snags the Rest of Lowery's Stack

Daniel Lowery
Daniel Lowery

Daniel Lowery raised to 2,300 from middle position, and was called by Hilton McLamb in the hijack, as well as the player in the small blind.

The small blind checked the {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop, and Lowery jammed for 4,500. McLamb was the only interested party, and it was easy to see why once the cards were tabled.

Hilton McLamb: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Daniel Lowery: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

Lowery was in dire need of running cards to survive, but found none on the {9-Diamonds} turn and {2-Clubs} river to bust.

Queens Can't Beat Queens

Kyle Hinnerichs
Kyle Hinnerichs

Tayler Hinnerichs limped in from under the gun, and Steve Fredlund limped along in middle position. Brett Sheets raised to 4,100 from the hijack, and Clint Center three-bet shoved for 16,200 in the small blind. Hinnerichs four-bet shoved for 36,000, and Fredlund and Center folded.

Clint Center: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Kyle Hinnerichs: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The duo were assured a chop on the {9-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop, and the {a-Clubs} turn and {j-Diamonds} river peeled off harmlessly.

"I folded jacks!" Fredlund said with a wry grin after the river fell.
