Tamper Wheeler, who goes by Nate Wheeler is sitting with a little over 60,000 as registration closes on the final starting flight of the RunGood Poker Series Downstream main event.
He played both flights yesterday, but was unable to find a bag. He attributed it to possibly just being tired after leaving Dallas early yesterday morning in order to arrive in time to play.
Today, he's managed to find some traction and is sitting with a healthy stack entering the final two hours of play in Day 1c.
Wheeler has 12 total tournament cashes for $56,272. He recently cashed in a RunGood Events tournament in Bossier City for $33,426 after making the final table of that event.
Wheeler is looking for his first RGPS cash in the main event here at Downstream.
Derrick Contreras has been around the RunGood Poker scene for a while. At the most recent RGPS stop he won two events and became the only player with two RGPS Championship rings.
He won the Pot-Limit Omaha event and the main event for $38,539.
He's got 13 results and has made two RGPS main event final tables now — finishing 5th in the April 2017 Kansas City main event. He has $63,803 in career tournament winnings and is looking to keep his run going and perhaps end up as the only player with three RGPS Championship rings.
Contreras registered recently after taking a shot yesterday in the first two flights of the RGPS Downstream main.
