Joe Walters Eliminated in 7th Place ($5,669)

Level 23 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante
Joe Walters
Joe Walters

The action folded around to chip leader Derrick Contreras in the small blind and he open shoved. Joe Walters called off his last 300,000 from the big blind to put himself at risk.

Joe Walters: {a-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
Derrick Contreras: {k-Spades}{5-Clubs}

The flop came {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}, giving Contreras a gutshot straight draw for a few additional outs. The {6-Clubs} on the turn looked good for Walters, but the {j-Diamonds} on the river filled Contreras' straight and ended Walters' main event run.

Walters exits in 7th place, earning $5,669 in prize money.

Level 22 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Eric Colvin
Eric Colvin

Eric Colvin opened the action and got a call from Kelly Vande Mheer. The flop came {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}, and Colvin continued with a bet. Vande Mheer called.

The {6-Diamonds} came on the turn and Colvin got all his chips in the middle.

Kelly Vande Mheer: {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
Eric Colvin: {a-Spades}{5-Spades}

Colvin found himself drawing dead against Vande Mheer's flush, with a meaningless {6-Spades} completing the board on the river.

Colvin goes out in eighth place, taking home $4,458 from the prize pool.

Scott Veitzer Eliminated in 9th Place ($3,557)

Level 22 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Scott Veitzer
Scott Veitzer

Veitzer shoved for 175,000 from under-the-gun and Kris Burchfield three-bet to 425,000 from the cutoff. Everyone else folded and the hands were turned up.

Kris Burchfield: {k-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Scott Veitzer: {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The flop fell best for Burchfield, {q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The turn brought more outs for Veitzer when the {3-Spades} hit the felt, but none of them arrived on the {4-Clubs} river.

Veitzer exits the tournament in 9th place and will take home a payday of $3,557.

Colvin Doubles, Veitzer Crippled

Level 22 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Scott Veitzer
Scott Veitzer

Scott Veitzer open shoved for 265,000 and Eric Colvin reshoved for less, 210,000, next to act. Everyone else folded and the hands were turned up.

Eric Colvin: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Scott Veitzer: {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}, giving Colvin a set of fives and leaving Veitzer with runner-runner as his only way out. The turn ended the hand with the {7-Spades}. The {j-Diamonds} on the river was mere formality.

Left with just 55,000 chips, Veitzer doubled up in the following hand, folded the next couple, and then played his final hand of the main event.

Clayton Vandiver Eliminated in 10th Place ($2,881)

Level 22 : 15,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Clayton Vandiver
Clayton Vandiver

Clayton Vandiver's exit is a two-parter. In the first hand, the action folded around to Kelly Vande Mheen in the small blind and he called. Vandiver min-raised and Vande Mheen called.

The flop came {q-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Vande Mheen checked. Vandiver announced he was all-in and Vande Mheen snap-called.

Kelly Vande Mheen: {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Clayton Vandiver: {k-Spades}{j-Clubs}

Vande Mheen had the lead but Vandiver had live cards. The {4-Spades} turn and {9-Spades} river failed to improve Vandiver's hand, losing three-quarters of his stack in the process.

An orbit later, Vande Mheen opened for 60,000 and Vandiver moved all-in for around 200,000. The action folded around the Jesse McVicker in the big blind and he re-shoved for around 700,000.

Vande Mheen decided to get out of the way and the hands were turned up.

Clayton Vandiver: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Jesse McVicker: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}

"I like your hand," McVicker said as a flop of {a-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Spades} hit the felt. The turn added the {q-Hearts} to the board, prompting McVicker to call for a heart.

His wish was delivered when the river brought the {k-Hearts}.

Vandiver exits the tournament in 10th place and will take home $2,881 for his efforts in the Main Event.

Joe Walters raised from early position to 40,000 and Jesse McVicker shoved all-in for 105,000. Kelly Vande Mheen four-bet to 310,000 and Walters folded, flashing {j-}{j-}.

"I can beat pocket nines," McVicker said, turning over his hand.

Jesse McVicker: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Kelly Vande Mheen: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

The table erupted in laughter upon seeing Vande Mheen's hand.

"This is the best situation for me," McVicker said, "Getting the best hand to fold."

Meanwhile, Walters rolled his eyes and raised his palms to the sky.

The flop came {10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and McVicker celebrated once again.

"There we go," he exclaimed. "There we go!"

The board completed with {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and McVicker collected the much-needed pot.
