Thomas Eliminates Kellen

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
Daniel Thomas
Daniel Thomas

Anthony Kellen limped in from middle position and Ryan Phan limped from Kellen's left. Russell Licking completed in the small bind and Daniel Thomas checked his option from the big.

The four players went to a flop of {8-Spades}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}. Licking led into the field for 1,200. Everyone except Phan called.

The turn added the {5-Spades} to the board, and Licking once again led with a bet, this time for 1,500. Both Thomas and Kellen called.

The {7-Hearts} hit the felt on the river, and this time Licking slowed down, ultimately checking it over to Thomas, who moved all in for 8,400.

Kellen, who had 4,200 left in his stack, leaned back and let out a deep sigh. After a lot of thought, he called off the last of his chips while Licking folded.

Thomas tabled {3-}{4-} for trip threes. Kellen revealed {q-}{q-} for a slow-played overpair, and hit the rail.

Tough Row to Hoe

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Russell Licking
Russell Licking

Russell Licking raised to 1,300 from middle position and Terry Gardner three-bet to 3,500 from the cutoff. The action folded back to Licking and he called.

The flop came {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}{8-Hearts} and Licking checked. Gardner continued for 2,000 and Licking called.

The turn added the {a-Clubs} to the board and this time Licking, taking his time, bet into Gardner for 3,000.

Gardner quickly moved all-in for around 16,000 and Licking called to put Gardner at risk.

Terry Gardner: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Russell Licking: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Gardner's set of eights would need to improve to a full house to overcome Licking's turned straight, but the river blanked with the {7-Diamonds} to send Gardner to the rail.

Wilshire Makes River Call

Level 5 : 200/400, 400 ante
Beau Wilshire
Beau Wilshire

Frank Lueke limped from middle position and Daniel Lowery raised to 1,300 from the cutoff.

Beau Wilshire called from the button, and Lueke also matched the bet.

The three saw a flop of {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and Lueke led for 2,600.

Lowery folded and Wilshire called.

Both players checked the {8-Clubs} on the turn.

The river was the {q-Spades} and Lueke announced, "Value!" before throwing in a 2,600 bet.

Wilshire thought for a second before making the call.

"Good call. If you have anything you're good," Lueke said, tabling his {k-Spades}{6-Spades} for top pair.

Wilshire showed down his {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a pair of Kings with a better kicker and dragged the pot.

Checking Top Pair

Level 4 : 200/300, 300 ante

Theodore Lee opened for 800 from middle position and Trent Drake called from the button. The flop came {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Lee checked it over to Drake and he bet 1,300. Lee called.

On the {j-Clubs} turn both players checked to see the {2-Diamonds} complete the board.

Lee bet 1,500 and Drake sighed as he made the call

Lee showed {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for aces and nines with a queen kicker, out-kicking Drake who held {a-Hearts}{7-Clubs} for the same two pair with a jack kicker.
