PLO-aficionados, attention! Today at 1 p.m. EDT, cards go in the air for SCOOP-40, a two-day Pot-Limit Omaha fest with tiered buy-ins of $5.50, $530 and $5,200. PokerNews will be on top of the biggest one, bringing you all the four-card action straight from the digital felt as it happens.
Last year, Norway's "Skjervøy" captured the title in the $5,200 PLO event, outlasting a field of 201 players that just nudged the prize pool over a cool million. The Norwegian walked away with $197,209 and a SCOOP-title on his poker resumé.
With a guarantee of $750,000, a field of at least 150 players is expected to show up. Like many other events, the guarantee is likely to be smashed as well here.
Players exchange their $5,200 for a stack of 100,000 in chips to start out with, with blinds starting at 250/500 and 20-minute levels throughout. Day 1 breaks when the field gets in the money, and the tournament will suspend until Sunday, May 10, when action resumes at 1 p.m. again. Up to two re-entries are allowed; an important note in PLO where equities often run close.
For everything regarding this year's SCOOP you can visit the respective SCOOP-page on PokerNews, or check PokerStars for all the events and nonstop satellites to hop into the action.
