After 16 levels of 25 minutes each, Day 1 of the PokerStars 2020 SCOOP 74-M: $1,050 Main Event has come to an end with 1,990 players out of 6,038 entries making it through to Day 2. All those entries ensured that the $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool was crushed as it tallied up to $6,038,000. And it will only go up as players can still register until 1 p.m. on Day 2 Monday, May 18.

Claiming the Day 1 chip lead is "Fenryr03" from Moldova with 1,565,493 in chips. They have been near the top of the counts for most of the day and got some of those chips when they eliminated Jordan "bigbluffzinc" Drummond with top pair as Drummond failed to hit his flush draw. They are followed in the chip counts by "ThEcLaiMEer" (1,555,349), "IHackedRNG" (1,319,263), "KissMyAcePlz" (1,294,402), and "sangnv" with 1.269.594 in chips.

But with such a big field, there are still plenty of notable contenders left for deep runs in this year's main event. Players like Patrick "pads1161" Leonard, Marc "Rowniwn" Radgen, Stevan "random_chu" Chew, Damian "pampa27" Salas, Michael "merla888" Gathy, Adrian "Amadi_17" Mateos, Ignat "0Human0" Liviu, Pablo "elmelogno4" Melogno, Daniil "Dancer King" Kiselev, Florencio "immortalite3" Campomanes, Simon "Simon1471" Higgins, Joao "Naza114" Vieira, Luke "Bit2Easy" Reeves, and Artur "mararthur1" Martirosyan all finished in the top 100.

Looking at the PokerStars Ambassadors, Lex "L. Veldhuis" Veldhuis (334,232), Mikhail "innerpsy" Shalamov (207,107), Ben "Spraggy" Spragg (121,740), and Fintan "EasyWithAces" Hand (87,753) have made it through with Ramon "RamonColillas" Colillas coming back tomorrow with a fresh stack for his third bullet.

When Day 2 starts, the players who reenter will have almost 17 big blinds as Level 17 features a small blind of 3,000, big blind of 6,000, and a running ante of 750. The level duration will be reduced to 20 minutes each and play will continue until there are 80 players left to go through to Day 3.

PokerNews will be back on Monday, May 18 at 1 p.m. EST to bring you all the Main Event action so see you then!
