$300 No Limit Hold'em

Day 1a Completed

18 Survive The Seneca Fall Poker Classic Opening Event's First Flight

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Alex Avdelopoulos
Alex Avdelopoulos

The first of four starting flights for the $100,000 guaranteed 2017 Seneca Fall Poker Classic $300 No Limit Hold'em drew 125 entries inside the Niagara Falls Poker Room at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino.

As a result, the event is well on its way to crushing its $100,000 guarantee with three flights to come.

In fact, the second of four starting flights will begin at 6 p.m. local time Friday and there will be two more at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday.

Any and all survivors will push through to Sunday's Day 2, where the money awaits and a champion of the first event on the 2017 Seneca Fall Poker Classic schedule will be crowned.

The first flight saw 18 survive with Toronto, Canada's Alex Avdelopoulos riding good luck, timing and skillful play to a massive chip lead. He'll take 440,000 with him to Sunday.

That's it for this first flight, but the action continues here on PokerNews with the second flight starting just minutes from now.

Two More Hands

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

With ten minutes left in the level a draw was conducted to determine the number of hands left to play.

Brian Bartoe mercifully drew a deuce. Two more hands and the remaining players will bag and tag.

Avdelopoulos On Top

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante

Alex Avdelopoulos looks like a shoe-in to bag a big lead when play wraps up.

He has ridden good fortune all day long to a stack approaching the 400,000-mark now. No one is really even close.

They will play until ten minutes remain here in Level 14, then conduct a draw to determine the number of hands left to play.

We will update the chip counts and write up a short recap that will more than likely include a picture of Avdelopoulos, barring some disaster.

A Classic Showdown

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Richard Arnone
Richard Arnone

Richard Arnone and Jim Girdlestone just got involved in what dealer Eddy Williams would call a classic showdown.

It was Arnone's aces versus Girdlestone's kings all in preflop and when the dust settled, aces held to send Arnone soaring close to the top of the counts on 240,000.

Girdlestone was left with 50,000 with which to rebuild.
