Another 30 Through From Fall Poker Classic Opening Event Second Flight

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Andy Snover
Andy Snover

The second of four starting flights for the $100,000 guaranteed 2017 Seneca Fall Poker Classic $300 No Limit Hold'em drew 160 entries inside the Niagara Falls Poker Room at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino.

Now, the event is a shoe-in to smash the $100,000 guarantee out of the park, with the third starting flight beginning at 10 a.m. local time Saturday and a fourth and final at 6 p.m.

Any and all survivors will push through to Sunday's Day 2, where the money awaits and a 2017 Seneca Fall Poker Classic opening event champion will be crowned.

The second flight saw 30 survive with wild and wooly local Andy Stover riding a roller coaster to the end-of-flight chip lead. He did have 400,000 at one point, but finally settled on 261,000 after a sharp and spewy downswing had him well below that early in the last level of the night.

When combined, that's a total of 48 going through to Sunday so far. Plus, those two more heats still to come tomorrow. Toronto, Canada's Alex Avdelopoulos from the first flight still holds a massive overnight chip lead, sitting on 440,000 going to Day 2.

That's it for tonight, but the action continues here on PokerNews with the third flight beginning about eight hours from now. Hasta Mañana.

Wrap It Up, I'll Take It

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 400 ante
Andy Snover
Andy Snover

Andy Snover is enjoying the swings now back near the chip lead as the field of 30 heads into the closing hands of the day at three tables.

However, the truth is it's neck-in-neck for the lead between a few of them, including Mark Nowak and Matt Brunskole.

With ten minutes left in this level they drew to determine the number of hands left to play. They drew a five and will play that many before bagging and tagging.

Updated chip counts and a brief recap are on the way.

Knockout For Nowak

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Mark Nowak flopped a set of tens, and when his heads-up opponent shoved big slick for 100,000, he made the obvious call.

He had that 100,000 just barely covered, and with no surprises on the turn or river, he scored the knockout to vault into the chip lead.

In the meantime, Canadian Matt Brunskole stands out as the biggest threat to Nowak's lead right now. He's peaking at 170,000, making anyone who may have bet on him to bag the lead a happy camper.

Brunskole has a shot at it. No offense to Nowak or anybody else, but come on Brunskole! Baby needs a new pair of shoes!

Andy Snover got it up around 400,000 for a minute, but it was only a minute.

He took a bit hit getting it in open ended and missing to drop back to 220,000. He still led, but then things really took a turn for the worse. Stover doubled up Anne Jones a minute ago to dip to 160,000. Now that lead is rather tenuous.

Here's a look at the rest of the current leaders. It's level 12 and there are 43 left. They'll play to the end of 14 levels, unless they get down to 20 players remaining first.

Michelle Caldwell joins the chip counts closer to Stover's lead than anyone else in the room.

Snow Day!

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Andy Snover
Andy Snover

Andy Snover has suddenly vaulted over 200,000 and into the chip lead after a massive hand with Marc Bellis.

It was three handed when Snover fired 35,000 into a {10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{9-Spades} flop. Bellis responded by shipping it all in for over 100,000 and after the third player folded, Snover called for a count.

Before the dealer had the chance to do it, Snover spoke up.

"F$#@ it, I call," he said, turning over the {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades} for top pair, the open-ended redraw and a spade blocker. Bellis had a few outs to the nuts and more holding the {a-Spades}{k-Spades}, but he whiffed on a {3-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} run out, handing his entire stack and the chip lead to the man who calls himself 'Asian' Andy.
