Dorea Runs Into Aces

Christian Rico raised to 4,000 in the hijack and Romulo Dorea ripped all in for around 28,000 from the small blind. Rico instantly called and the two players exchanged some friendly banter before the cards were tabled.

Dorea was fighting an uphill battle but the flop of K♥10♣5♠ gave him some hope with a straight draw. The 8♦ on the turn was irrelevant and the K♣ river also bricked out, sending Dorea to the rail.

In a three-way limped pot, the dealer spread the flop of A♥7♣4♣ across the felt. Lincoln Lau tossed in a bet of 3,500 from the big blind and the player on his left called.

The A♣ paired the board on the turn and Lau made another bet of 3,500. His opponent still called and the 5♠ completed the board. Lau checked this time and his opponent quickly checked it back. Lau tabled Q♥7♦ for two pair and his opponent mucked K♥J♠ for just king-high.

Karlsen Turns Mesqueu to the Door

Marcelo Mesqueu was down to just 19,000 chips and moved all in from early position. The action folded around to Drea Karlsen in the big blind who quickly called after looking at her cards.

The flop came J♠7♥6♠ and Mesqueu was still in the lead with the better ace-high.

"Spade," Karlsen cheered for but the dealer did one better with the 9♠ to give her the outright lead. The river was the 7♠ which improved her to a flush and Mesqueu exited the tournament area.

Feliks Saakyan raised to 8,000 in middle position and was called by Christian Rico on his left and Joao Vitor in the small blind. The flop came Q♥7♦2♣ and Vitor led out with a bet of 6,000. Saakyan raised to 23,000 which got Rico out of the way but Vitor still called.

The turn was the 9♦ and Vitor led out again with an even smaller bet of 4,000. Saakyan just called this time and the 3♠ hit the river. Both players tapped the table and Vitor turned over 4♣4♦ which proved to be enough to win the pot.

Riise Falls Near the End of Day 1a

John Arne Riise raised to 8,000 on the button and was called by Joao Vitor and Leonardo Boen in the blinds. The flop came A♠7♥6♣ and the action checked around to the 5♦ on the turn.

Vitor led out with a bet of 5,000 which Boen just called. Riise raised to 15,000 and both of his opponents called. The river brought the 10♦ and Vitor checked. Boen put together a bet of 30,000 and Riise jammed all in for around 65,000. Vitor quickly folded and Boen called just as fast.

Riise turned over 7♠7♦ for a set of sevens but Boen turned a straight with 8♣4♠ to eliminate Riise near the end of Day 1a.

Four players headed to a flop of 8♥7♣6♦ in a limped pot. The action checked to Samara Alexandre on the button who threw in a bet of 7,000. Ayrton Brito was the only player to call as the 10♦ landed on the turn.

Both players checked and the Q♠ completed the board. Brito led out with a bet of 10,000 and Alexandre looked him up. Brito tabled A♥10♠ for a pair of tens but Alexandre showed Q♣6♥ for two pair to win the pot.
