The action has tightened up significantly with only 10 players remaining, two off the money bubble and advancing to Day 2. Daria Krashennikova has used that to her advantage by keeping the pressure on her opponents and consistently stacking chips.
She raised it up to 12,000 in the cutoff and Gilmar Machado called from the small blind. The flop came K♦9♥8♠ and Krashennikova continued with a bet of 12,000. Machado check-raised to 35,000 and Krashennikova flashed the 9♦ before folding. Machado countered by showing the K♠ as he raked in the pot.

Daria Krashennikova raised to 12,000 from under the gun and Wilson Caldeira defended from the big blind. The flop fell Q♣5♠2♥ and Caldeira checked to Krashennikova who bet 12,000. Caldeira check-raised to 36,000 and Krashennikova called.
The 2♦ paired the board on the turn and both players checked to the 10♠ on the river. Caldeira checked once more and Krashennikova put together a bet of 46,000. Caldeira looked her up and Krashennikova turned over Q♥10♦ for two pair to extend her lead on the rest of the field.

Gilmar Machado raised to 20,000 from under the gun and Wilson Caldeira called from the big blind. The flop came 6♣5♠2♥ and Caldeira led out with a bet of 20,000 which Machado called.
The turn was the 3♦ and both players quickly checked to the 4♣ on the river. Caldeira shipped all in for 63,000 with a straight on the board and Machado called hoping to chop. Caldeira turned over 8♠7♠ for the mega straight and Machado was forced to pass over a double up.
Two hands later, Joao Leao raised from the cutoff and Machado stuck in his last 25,000 chips in the small blind. Leao called and the cards were on their backs.
Gilmar Machado: A♣7♥
Joao Leao: A♥9♣
The board ran out A♦K♠Q♠9♦J♣ to give Leao two pair and eliminate Machado on the money bubble. The remaining eight players will now bag up their chips and return on Day 2 where they will be in the money.

It was an action-packed day inside the Monte Carlo Poker Club for Day 1b of the $770 Main Event on the SiGMA Poker Tour in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Things got off to an earlier start today with the cards going in the air at 2 p.m. local time. A similar field size turned up with a total of 64 entries taking part in the festivities, leaving just eight players advancing through to Day 2 on Sunday.
It was a dominant performance by Russian poker pro Daria Krashennikova who cruised through the day to finish with 771,000 chips, far and away the overall lead through three starting flights. Krashennikova spends the majority of her time playing poker here in Brazil now and has had plenty of success along the way. That continued today when she turned things around after a cooler finally went in her favor, getting pocket kings all in against the former chip leader, Gilmar Machado's pocket queens.

Although today was expected to be a larger turnout, some issues in the city of Sao Paulo resulted in some players not attending the Main Event today. A total of 64 entries were recorded throughout the day with 50 unique entries and 14 players choosing to reenter at some point. That meant the field would play down to just eight players who would advance to Day 2 on Sunday, April 13th and guarantee them a place in the money.
SiGMA Poker Tour ambassador, Lukas Robinson also had a much more successful day compared to Day 1a. Robinson built a stack early on and also laid claim to likely the biggest cooler this tournament will see. Robinson turned quad sevens only to have his opponent river aces full, scoring a massive pot at the time. Robinson went on to bag a stack of 146,000 and will return to the felt for Day 2.
Overlay Alert!
Day 1c also kicked off this evening, a turbo flight consisting of just 20-minute levels. That flight attracted a total of 33 entries and they will be playing down to the final four players. That means, a total of 158 entries have been recorded thus far, leaving a big haul needed tomorrow to reach the guarantee of $250,000. With an overlay looming, tournament staff have their fingers crossed that players show up in masses.
The action will get underway even earlier tomorrow with an 11 a.m. start scheduled for Day 1d. Again, there will be another turbo flight in the evening hoping to bring in some last-minute stragglers. The PokerNews live reporting team will be back on the tournament floor to bring you a full slate of coverage from Day 1d and keep you updated on the total number of entries throughout the day.
