Nico du Toit bet the 7♠6♥2♠9♣ turn for 3,200 in the hijack and Paul Muller on the button raised to 6,600, which du Toit called after using one time bank. On the 6♦ river, the board paired and du Toit opted to check. Muller bet 15,000 and his opponent sighed, then guessed "sevens, nines, you gotta have a boat" before folding.
Muller indeed showed his cards as he tabled the 9♦9♠ for a full house.
"I had an overpair to the board," du Toit added.
Heads-up to the J♦8♠6♦ flop, Jaco Mouton and Alvin Pillay invested 5,000 each and Mouton then bet the 3♠ turn for 10,000, which Pillay called. On the 4♥ river, Mouton declared all-in and that sent Pillay into a brief tank before he tossed in a single chip for the call.
"I think you have queens," Mouton said and Pillay shook his head. Mouton then exposed the A♠Q♠ for the missed nut flush draw and Pillay earned the first knockout of the day with the A♥A♣.
Following a raise to 1,100 and a call, Dirk Steenkamp three-bet to 5,000 and was called by two opponents including the initial raiser Simon Brown. On the A♦7♠2♣ flop, Steenkamp fired a bet of 10,000 and was called by Brown to then repeat the same action on the 4♥ turn for 15,000.
Steenkamp bet the 3♥ river for 25,000 and Brown jammed for the 49,900 he had behind. The sigh-call by Steenkamp followed, who was shown the A♣A♠ by Brown, mucking his A♥K♠ in disgust.
Three ways to the J♠3♠3♣3♦ turn, Andrew Holland bet 600 and was called by one opponent while Fabian Valsecchi opted to fold. Holland bet again the J♥ river and was called to declare "I am playing the board" when he tabled the A♠10♥. He had to settle for a chop versus A♦8♥ while Valsecchi mentioned he had folded ace-high on the turn.

With some 8,000 in the middle to the K♥7♦3♦3♠ turn, Jon Persent checked from middle position. Mark Wright bet 5,000 in the cutoff only for Persent to check-raise to 15,000. Wright gave it some consideration but opted to fold.
