Berman Takes It on the Flop

Level 3 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Kevin Boyer had just entered not long ago and raised to 1,000 from under the gun. Hanre Retief, Mark Wright and Alan Jung all called before Benji Berman raised to 6,500 in the cutoff. Only Wright came along and then opted to lead the A105 flop for 6,000. Berman raised to 16,000 and Wright tapped the table in defeat, folding and mucking the 99 face-up.

Berman revealed the A first and also showed the Q before raking in the pot.

October Chips Up Without Showdown

Level 3 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

On the tail end of a board reading 55289, Caleb October bet 8,000 from an early position. His opponent on the button eventually folded and several players guessed what October's hand might be.

"Okay, I gonna show," October said and rolled over the KK.

Level 3 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Jaco Mouton is the first of the three early casualties to re-enter, taking a seat on table eight one over from over from the previous clash. There are now at least 72 entries for the opening flight and that figure will likely increase further.

Habib The Next to Fall

Level 3 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante
Daniel Habib
Daniel Habib

Prior to the break, Daniel Habib tangled in a bigger pot in which he check-raised the 953 flop from 12,000 to 26,000 and Danman called on the button. Habib bet the A turn for 18,000 to get called and then jammed the 10 river. Danman beat him into the pot and showed his QQ for a pair of queens.

Habib flung his cards into the muck and paid off the double for 50,800. That left the Brit with a severe short stack and he busted a few minutes into the new level.

Van Huyssteen Eliminated by Benjamin

Level 2 : Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
Stefan van Huyssteen
Stefan van Huyssteen

In an already loaded pot between Stefan Van Huyssteen in the big blind and Reagan Benjamin on the button on a board showing AJ2JJ, the former bet 30,000. Benjamin then pushed all-in and Van Huyssteen sigh-called after brief consideration to instantly ask if his opponent had the case jack.

Benjamin indeed tabled the J10 for quads and Van Huyssteen's AK were no good.
