Jared Luyt reluctantly checked behind the 8♥7♠5♣K♦ turn and then went deep into the tank when Greg Mokgoatlheng bet the 10♦ river for 11,000. Two time banks later, Luyt called and Mokgoatlheng announced "I have ace-high" before flipping over the A♦6♦.
Luyt tabled the 9♥7♥ for a pair of sevens and vaulted out of his chair for a moment.
"I almost folded. If you bet a little more, I might," he said.
Alvin Pillay check-called the K♠10♥8♠ flop and then check-called the J♥ turn for 20,000. He opted to lead the 6♣ on the river and Terry Brookes called to get shown the 10♣10♦ for a flopped set of tens. Brookes, however, had J♠J♣ for a turned set of jacks and mentioned he was afraid Pillay had ace-queen for broadway.
On the four-way flop of K♠Q♠8♦, the action checked to Warren Abrahams and his bet of 3,000 on the button was called three ways. The 5♦ turn saw Ronnie Welgemoed lead for 11,000 from the big blind and everyone folded including Wesley Blom.
"Ace queen?" Blom asked and Welgemoed flashed the Q♦ first. Before raking in the pot, he also tabled the 5♠ for two pair as well.
Brandon Bruintjies raised to 2,600 from under the gun to get called by Tanith Rothman on the button and Siva Naidoo in the big blind. On the 9♥6♦6♣ flop, Naidoo led for 3,500 and Bruintjies called, Rothman folded.
Naidoo bet another 7,000 on the 7♠ turn to receive a call and slowed down by checking the 10♠ on the river. Bruintjies splashed in a large bet worth 45,000 and forced out his table neighbour.
Three ways to the 9♥8♥6♣ flop, Alvin Pillay checked and then faced a bet of 3,500. Menesh Keshav raised to 10.000 and Pillay check-raised to 28,000. The third player in the hand folded and Keshav moved all-in, Pillay snap-called.
Menesh Keshav: A♥7♥
Alvin Pillay: 10♣7♣
The 5♠ turn changed nothing as Keshav still needed a ten for a chop or heart to double. He got that with the Q♥ river and doubled for 97,300.
