Greg Mokgoatlheng
Greg Mokgoatlheng

Greg Mokgoatlheng was spotted on his way to the exit just moments before the field was sent into the dinner break. He has last been spotted with only two T-5,000 chips and those vanished with A5 versus 99 on a board of Q8256.

In the meanwhile, former short stack Sunelle Kirstein was able to spin up her chips en route to reaching the starting stack again.

Pillay Loses Loads to Hoal

Level 6 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Jonathan Hoal
Jonathan Hoal

Alvin Pillay and Jonathan Hoal clashed in a hand and with words when the 984 flop saw Pillay fire a bet of 19,000 and he was then raised to more than 60,000. Pillay asked if Hoal would show and added "I always show you" before he eventually laid down his cards and flashed the 1010.

"I had a set," Hoal replied but never showed his cards.

A few minutes later, they clashed in an even bigger pot that went to showdown. On the QJ91010 river, Pillay paid off a bet of 45,000 by tossing in a single T-5,000 chip with the K6. Hoal had the superior flush in A2 and claimed another big pot.

Brooks Bounces Back Up

Level 6 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Harold Brooks made it 4,700 to go on the 1086 flop and was called only by the player on the button. That led to the 3 on the turn on which Brooks bet another 7,700, picking up a call. The J river was checked and Brooks' K10 won the pot.

No Sets About Here

Level 6 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

With some 25,000 in the middle to the J52 flop, Jared Luyt checked before calling a bet of 7,000 by Ben and he checked again the K on the turn. Ben now bet 22,000 and Luyt inquired "how much do you have behind brother". When spotting it was some 50,000 more, Luyt jammed and Ben called.

Ben was ready to leave with the AK but the AK of Luyt was as strong to ensure a split pot already even before the J river.

According to the table chat, Luyt had suspected a set of jacks but "ace king makes sense also".

Preflop Button Clicking

Level 6 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Ryan Brauer raised to 3,000 in the cutoff and Terry Brookes on the button three-bet to 7,500. In the big blind, Menesh Keshav made it 20,000 to go and Brauer folded. Brookes glanced over to see the stack of his opponent before he splashed in the five-bet to 70,000.

"Aces? Must be nice," Keshav said and folded while flashing the A. "I had ace of hearts jack of diamonds," Brauer mentioned while Brookes replied "you know what I had".

New on the table is Bradley Moore, who won the ZAR 50,000 High Roller not long ago in heads-up against Jonathan Woolley with the final four players having previously agreed to a deal.

The Chips "Slowly Come Back" to Duncan

Level 6 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

On the tail end of a A65510 board, Gareth Duncan bet 12,600 and Michele Lodi-Fe check-folded after some consideration.

Duncan started some chatter with Divan Van Wyk and pointed out that he had just won some of his chips back, a mere three big blinds in that hand.

Duncan then raised to 2,500 in the next hand and Van Wyk called, as did Lodi-Fe. Van Wyk checked in the dark to the J43 flop, both other players checked. The A appeared on the turn and Van Wyk joked "that is in your range" to Duncan. He checked, as did Lodi-Fe, Duncan bet 4,500 and Lodi-Fe was the only caller.

Both checked the 6 river and Duncan tabled his AK, Lodi-Fe mucked the AQ.

Only two players remained in the hand by the time the turn showed Q334 and Tanith Rothman bet 5,000 out of the big blind. Brandon Bruintjies called from an early position and Rothman then bet another 5,500 by using most of her small chip denominations on the 4 river.

The call of Bruintjies was not instant but he came along to get shown the A5, which he had beat with the 77 for sevens and fours.
