One for Sontheimer

Level 3 : 500/1,500, 1,500 ante

From under the gun, Leon Tsoukernik opened to 6,000 and Steffen Sontheimer called in the big blind.

The flop of {9-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} saw Sontheimer check to Tsoukernik who bet out 6,000.

Sontheimer called, and then both players checked the {6-Clubs} on the turn.

The river landed the {A-Hearts} and Sontheimer tossed in a bet of 26,500 and Tsoukernik folded.

Peters Over Kaverman

Level 3 : 500/1,500, 1,500 ante

In a hand that stretched a little into the break, big blind David Peters bet about 25,000 on a {7-Hearts}{a-Spades}{10-Spades}{8-Spades} board, and Byron Kaverman called from the cutoff. Peters bet 45,000 on the {2-Clubs} river, and Kaverman used a time extension before deciding to call.

Peters showed {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for two pair, which was good.

Hellmuth and Katz Chop

Level 3 : 500/1,500, 1,500 ante

On a flop of {9-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, Cary Katz led out for 7,000 and Phil Hellmuth raised to 20,000.

Katz responded by moving all in and Hellmuth called off his last 95,000.

Katz: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Hellmuth: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}

With Hellmuth at risk but in the lead, he would need to fade any king or spade.

The {4-Hearts} on the turn, followed by the {4-Diamonds} on the river would see the pot chopped up between the two.

Mercier Climbing

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Pratyush Buddiga opened to 3,500 and was immediately met with a three-bet from Daniel Negreanu in the hi-jack to 12,500.

Jason Mercier cold-called in the cutoff before Tom Marchese four-bet his button to 40,000. Buddiga and Negreanu folded, but Mercier called.

The {4-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop was checked by both players before the {8-Clubs} landed on the turn.

Mercier bet out 47,000 and Marchese folded.

Aldemir Turns Two Pair on Holz

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

From the cutoff, Fedor Holz opened to 4,000 and both Dan Shak and Koray Aldemir called in the blinds.

The flop fell {J-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and the action was checked to Holz who bet 8,500. Shak called, but Aldemir raised to 28,500 as Holz called and Shak folded.

The turn landed the {4-Spades} and Aldemir pushed out a bet of 60,000. Holz called and the river landed the {7-Diamonds}.

Aldemir went into the tank, and when his time was about to expire, he opted to use a time extension button.

Eventually, Aldemir would check, as would Holz. Aldemir tabled his {4-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Holz folded.

"No More River Tanks" But Rast Picks Off Koon

Level 4 : 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante
Brian Rast
Brian Rast

We found Brian Rast in the big blind and deep in the tank on a board of {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{7-Spades}{2-Spades}. There was about 130,000 in the pot, and Jason Koon had bet 80,000. Rast had only about 25,000 more than that, so he'd be in dire straits if he called and lost. He used all three of his time extensions and then decided to call with about 10 seconds left.

Koon flipped over {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for a whiffed combo draw, and Rast showed {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

"No more river tanks now, boys," he said with a smile as he dragged the pot. "Only 30 seconds from here on out."
