Petrangelo Eliminates Hyman

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante
Matt Hyman
Matt Hyman

Nick Petrangelo opened for 35,000 on the button with {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} on the featured table. Matt Hyman defended big blind with {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} and both hit the {k-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop. Hyman check-called 30,000. He checked the {7-Clubs} turn and Petrangelo bet 90,000. Hyman shoved for 322,000 and Petrangelo called.

The two showed down and Hyman needed help on the river but missed as the {3-Clubs} improved Petrangelo even further.

Chidwick Forces a Vogelsang Fold

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Christoph Vogelsang defended big blind from a Stephen Chidwick cutoff open and both players checked the flop to a turn that made it {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}. Vogelsang bet 27,000 and Chidwick called. Vogelsang bet another 65,000 on the {7-Diamonds} river, only to see Chidwick put him all in for about 480,000 more. Vogelsang folded fairly quickly.

Petrangelo Avoids All Outs in the World to Score Double

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Jason Koon and Nick Petrangelo were in the blinds, both holding good hands for a heads-up pot. They got their chips in preflop, learning that they were racing for a 730,000 total.

Jason Koon: {Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}
Nick Petrangelo: {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}

It was a fair fight practically all the way through as the dealer pulled off a sweaty {9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades} board. Koon turned a Royal flush draw in addition to his overcards but Petrangelo somehow dodged all the lethal bullets with a black five-ball on the river.

He stacked the double, evening his stacks with Koon.

Sontheimer Slowplays Aces

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Steffen Sontheimer was dealt pocket kings and pocket aces in two consecutive hands. He didn't get anything from the kings as he took down the pot with a preflop raise but then he found blades in the big blind.

Jason Koon opened {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} and action folded to Sontheimer who flatted, underrepping his strength.

Koon himself saw a decent flop as the {3-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} gave him the middle pair along with backdoor draws. He continued for 22,000 and Sontheimer just check-called.

The {J-Hearts} brought Koon a flush draw and he checked back to see the river.

It was the {K-Diamonds} and Sontheimer took the betting lead, firing 45,000. Koon bricked his draw but smelled bluff. He burned one extension card and eventually tossed in calling chips to look at Sontheimer's overpair.

Chidwick Continues to Amass Chips

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Mikita Badziakouski limped in from the cutoff and Stephen Chidwick raised to 50,000 from the button.

Kahle Burns called in the big blind, and Badziakouski came along also.

The flop landed {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Burns and Badziakouski checked to Chidwick who bet 45,000.

Burns called, Badziakouski folded, and the turn fell the {K-Clubs}.

Burns checked, Chidwick bet out 125,000, and Burns mucked.

River Lead Doesn't Work for Chidwick

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Justin Bonomo made it 32,000 under the gun, and Stephen Chidwick defended big blind. Both players checked the flop to see {5-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}. Chidwick check-called 30,000. On the {8-Diamonds} river, the British pro bet out 50,000. Bonomo raised to 175,000 and Chidwick used a time extension before folding.

Trips Again for Davies

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

Matt Hyman defended big blind with {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} when Seth Davies opened under the gun with {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} for 30,000. As he did on Day 2 with that hand, Davies flopped trips when {k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{k-Clubs} hit. Hyman checked and Davies bet 18,000. Hyman made it 55,000 and Davies called. Davies called another barrel for 113,000 on the {10-Diamonds} turn and the river was a {9-Clubs}.

Hyman check-folded to a shove.

The flop landed {7-Spades}{4-Spades}{A-Clubs} and Bonomo checked to Badziakouski who contined for 30,000.

Bonomo folded, and Badziakouski collected the pot.

Level 16 : 7,000/14,000, 14,000 ante

On the featured table, Nick Petrangelo got his last 185,000 or so in preflop with {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and was up against {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} of Seth Davies. The board ran out {3-Spades}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}, safe for Petrangelo to double.

From under the gun, Stephen Chidwick opened to 30,000 and Kahle Burns called on the button.

With the action on Christoph Vogelsang in the small blind, he pushed out a three-bet amounting to 135,000.

Chidwick folded, as did Burns, and Vogelsang collected the pot.
