While the 2024 WSOP Circuit Sanremo Main Event champion Mario Perati was taking his seat, a tournament director was called to the table.
The action had been stopped on a board of 9♦J♣3♦7♣ with 15,000 already in the pot. Azedine Bendjilali on the button bet 7,000 before Gregory Hawes in the small blind moved all-in.
Bendjilali went into the tank and, during the decision process, looked at his J♠ and exposed it enough for Hawes and the dealer to see.
The ruling allowed Bendjilali to make his decision as normal. He ultimately folded but received a two-hand penalty, while Hawes was extending his chip lead.
Mo Xu opened to 3,000 from the button. David Sacksick in the small blind jammed for 7,000, then Adria Diaz Dalmau in the big blind raised all-in for 39,200. Xu went into the tank but folded.
David Sacksick: 5♠5♦
Adria Diaz Dalmau: K♠Q♠
Sacksick kept the lead all the way through a board of 6♥10♣10♠A♦9♣ and doubled up.
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is set to usher in a new era for its winter flagship, WSOP Paradise, after confirming the festival will move from Atlantis Paradise Island to the luxury Baha Mar resort, also in the Bahamas.
The 2026 edition, slated to run from Tuesday, December 1 to Friday, December 18, will shuffle up and deal in a new home roughly six miles up the Bahamian coast from where Austria’s Bernhard Binder announced himself to the wider poker world, capturing the record-breaking 2025 WSOP Paradise Super Main Event just a few months ago.
