$10,000 LAPC Main Event Begins With Day 1a!

The time has finally arrived at the 2025 LA Poker Classic, as the opening day of the $10,000 LAPC Main Event will begin at 11:00 a.m. local time.

It has already been an exciting series at The Commerce Casino & Hotel, and the drama is sure to increase over the next five days of action. Today marks the first of two starting flights, with Day 1b kicking off on Sunday morning.

Last year’s tournament generated a prize pool of $1,292,700, with the top 18 players finding the money. Wesley Haymond outlasted a field of 139 entries to take down the title, along with the first-place prize of $279,450.

Action will get underway at 11:00, with each player sitting down to a starting stack of 60,000 chips. Blinds will begin at 100/200, and a big blind ante of 200. Day 1a will a total of six levels played, each lasting 90 minutes followed by a 15-minute break.

Players are permitted just a single entry per flight, plus an additional entry on Day 2. Late registration remains open until the end of Level 7, or approximately 1:45 p.m. on Day 2.

King-High Good for Klein

Level 1 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Stephen Graner opened to 600 in early position, with William Kerkaert calling on the button. Bill Klein followed with a call in the small blind, as did Steve Agopian in the big blind.

The dealer fanned out the 8♠9♦6♦ flop and Klein quickly checked. Agopian bet 2,000, producing folds from Graner and Kerkaert before Klein made the call.

Another check from Klein followed the 3♠ turn, calling again after Agopian sized up to 5,000. Klein called to see the 6♥ river and both players checked it down.

Klein showed K♠10♠ for king-high.

"I was hoping you had jack-ten," said Agopian and he mucked his cards with the chips moving to his right.

Reichenstein Gets Paid

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Ark Onikul opened to 500 in middle position and Billy Baxter made the call on the button. Uri Reichenstein defended his big blind and the dealer fanned out the 3♠5♠7♥ flop.

All three players checked to the 7♠ turn, where Baxter checked again. Reichenstein slid out a bet of 2,500, which was called by Onikul as Baxter got out of the way.

The 9♦ river produced a bet of 6,500 from Reichenstein, with Onikul taking a moment before tossing in the call. Reichenstein showed 7♦3♦ for a full house, taking down the pot as Onikul mucked.

Paur Cracks Klein's Aces

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

William Kerkaert opened to 800 on the button and Taylor Paur answered with a three-bet to 3,500 in the small blind. Bill Klein then tossed out a four-bet of 10,000, with Kerkaert folding and Paur making the call.

Paur checked the K♣10♠J♦ flop before Klein moved all in for 27,200. After a moment, Paur made the call and the hands were turned up.

Paur flopped two pair to take the lead over Klein's pocket aces. The 9♥ turn changed nothing, while Paur improved to a full house on the J♥ river to send Klein to the rail.

Shah Calls Down Khorram

Hamid Khorram called in middle position and Dan Heimiller followed suit in the cutoff. Beth Hall came along in the small blind, with Amit Shah checking his big blind option.

The dealer revealed the K♣4♥9♠ flop, with Hall and Shah checking. Khorram fired a bet of 1,000, with only Shah continuing to the 2♠ turn.

Both players checked to see the 8♠ river, where Shah led out for 2,500. Khorram did not take long to announced a raise to 5,000, while Shah took some time before tossing in the call.

"Good call," Khorram told his opponent while showing 9♣8♣ for two pair. Shah turned over K♥8♦ for a better two pair to claim the pot.

George Archer raised to 800 in early position and action folded around to Ori Elul, who made the call in the big blind.

Both players checked the 2♠3♥10♥ flop and the dealer flipped over the 2♥ turn. Elul led out for 1,000 and Archer slid out a call.

Elul fired a bet of 8,000 after the 8♠ river, with Archer instantly tossing in the call. Elul showed 6♥4♠ for a missed straight draw, while Archer tabled A♥K♥ for a flush to take down the pot.

Action was three-handed to the 7♣3♦2♠ flop, where George Archer led out from the small blind for a pot-sized bet of 7,500.

Andrew Ostapchenko made the call in the big blind and Victoria Livschitz folded on the button. The 6♣ turn saw Archer size up to 15,000 and Ostapchenko made the call.

Archer fired again on the A♣ river, this time for 12,000. After taking some time, Ostapchenko tossed in the call. Archer revealed K♣J♣ for a flush to take down a big pot.

Beth Hall opened to 1,100 in middle position and Brian Hastings made the call from the cutoff. Hamid Khorram then moved his last 7,500 into the middle, with Hall calling and Hastings getting out of the way.

Faraz Jaka opened to 1,200 in the cutoff and Jean Gaspard called on the button. Brian Etheridge three-bet to 4,500 in the small blind, with only Gaspard calling.

The 8♦6♦9♠ flop saw Etheridge lead out for 7,500 before Gaspard moved all in for 31,500. After taking some time, Etheridge called and the hands were turned up.

Amir Mirrasouli opened to 1,500 from under the gun before Shahin Edalatdju three-bet to 5,000 in the cutoff. Billy Baxter then moved his last 19,600 into the middle, producing a fold from Mirrasouli and a call from Edalatdju.

Shahin Edalatdju: Q♠Q♥

Baxter remained behind after the 10♠7♥J♣ flop, while Edalatdju improved to a set on the Q♣ turn. That card also gave Baxter a straight to take the lead, and the A♥ river left Baxter cracking Edalatdju's set of queens to earn the double.
