Big Pot Ends in Chop

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Arjan van Bavel was a new face on the table and open-raised to 500 from under the gun. Theo Steimer then proceeded with a three-bet to 1,100 from the cutoff. The action folded back to Van Bavel, who put in the extra 600 chips for a call.

The flop came 653 and Van Bavel check-called the 1,500 continuation-bet from Steimer. The 4 saw Steimer bet another 2,500 before Van Bavel put in the check-raise to 8,000. Steimer quickly called and the 7 river was dealt.

Van Bavel now promptly moved all-in for a massive 42,500 effectively. Steimer again called with haste and Van Bavel declared "board" as he tabled his AQ. Steimer played the straight on the board as well with JJ and the two chopped up the first all-in pot of the day.

Mathys Loses One

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Ernat Muric and Beat Mathys were heads up on a flop of Q84. Muric made a bet of 1,100 and Mathys made the call after some gesturing. The turn fell 3 and Muric now bet 1,700, followed by a quick call from Mathys this time.

Muric then fired another 3,200 on the J river and Mathys folded just as quickly as he had called the turn.

Family Pot Goes to Steimer

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Alexander Steiger limped in from under the gun and the whole table followed suit before "RME" checked the big blind.

The flop of 72A checked to Theo Steimer on the button, who put out a bet of 400. That was enough to let everyone fold, and Steimer flashed the Q while raking in the small pot.

Beat Mathys

Beat Mathys raised to 300 from the small blind and Jakob Leitgeb called from the big blind. The flop was spread 1074 and Mathys continued for 400 chips, which Letgeb put in as well. On the 10 turn, Mathys bet 700 more, but this time Leitgeb folded.

The next hand, Mathys opened to 300 from the button and Leitgeb called the small blind. Katja Maria Schneider defended her big blind as well, and the trio saw a flop of 6A9.

Schneider took the betting lead and put 700 chips in the middle after a check from Leitgeb. Mathys matched the bet with a call, while Leitgeb got out of the way. Schneider then continued her aggression with a bet of 1,500 on the 2 turn and Mathys called once more.

The K river was then knuckled down by both players, upon which Schneider shook her head and showed 55. Mathys showed a higher pair with J9 and he took down his second consecutive pot.

It is time for Day 1c of the 2023 The Hendon Mob Championship (THMC) Liechtenstein Main Event held at Grand Casino Liechtenstein, located smack in the middle of the breathtaking Alps. The THMC tournaments have been organized since 2018 and have become a global phenomenon in the meantime. The last edition was held in May as part of The Festival Malta and saw Norway’s Jonas Engedal turn his €250 buy-in into €6,100 and walk away with the trophy.

This time around, the THMC Main Event is part of its own series, with side events galore. The buy-in is set at CHF 300 ($332) and the Main Event boasts a guaranteed prize pool of at least CHF 200,000. There will be no less than seven starting flights, from May 31st to June 4th, each of which has an option for double re-entry per player. PokerNews will provide a live report of the flights being held during the day, as well as Day 2 and the final Day 3 of the event. The evening flights will be mentioned in passing, next to their chip counts being updated before the next flight.
