Marius Gierse Eliminated in 3rd Place ($320,000)

Level 28 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Marius Gierse
Marius Gierse

Marius Gierse opened to 600,000 on the button and Stephen Song three-bet to 2,000,000 from the small blind. James Mendoza then cold four-bet to 5,500,000 in the big blind with AK and Gierse shoved for 8,800,000 total.

Song also went all in for more, which got Mendoza to lay his ace-king down and a showdown was held.

Marius Gierse: AKAll in
Stephen Song: JJ

Song was well ahead, given that Mendoza folded some of Gierse's outs, and the board ran out 3102Q6 — leaving Song's jacks best to eliminate Gierse in third place.

Gierse Doubles, Still Short

Level 28 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Marius Gierse just limped in from the small blind and Stephen Song announced all in as the big stack in the big blind. Gierse instantly called off his stack of 4,200,000 and the cards were on their backs.

Marius Gierse: 66All in
Stephen Song: A10

The flop came 1076 to give Song top pair but Gierse hit a set of sixes to hold a commanding lead. The turn was the J which left Song drawing dead to the 2 on the river.

Martin Nielsen Eliminated in 4th Place ($220,000)

Level 28 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Martin Nielsen
Martin Nielsen

Stephen Song opened to 600,000 on the button and Martin Nielsen called in the big blind.

Nielsen checked to Song, who continued for 400,000 on the 8103 flop. Nielsen responded with a check-raise to 1,000,000 and Song called.

Nielsen kept his foot on the gas for a 500,000 bet on the 8 turn and Song again called.

The 5 completed the board and Nielsen shoved for his last 3,000,000. Song snap-called and turned over K8 for trip eights.

Nielsen could only show 76 for a failed bluff attempt and was sent to the rail in fourth place.

Song Continues to Be One Step Ahead

Level 28 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Stephen Song limped in from the small blind with 109 and James Mendoza checked his option in the big blind with 107. The flop came 975 to give both players a pair but again it was Song in the lead.

Song checked to Mendoza who fired out a bet of 600,000 and Song just called. The turn was the 5 and both players checked to the J on the river. Song put together a bet of 900,000 and Mendoza looked him up only to see the bad news.

Patrik Demus Eliminated in 5th Place ($170,000)

Level 28 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Patrik Demus
Patrik Demus

James Mendoza opened to 600,000 from under the gun and Patrik Demus three-bet to 2,500,000 in the cutoff. Action folded back to Mendoza, who shoved, and Demus called all in for 5,700,000 total.

Patrik Demus: 88All in
James Mendoza: JJ

It was bad timing from Demus, who would need some help against Mendoza's jacks.

It wasn't meant to be, however, as the Q69JQ runout needlessly improved Mendoza to a full house to eliminate Demus in fifth place.

Ivan Zhang Eliminated in 6th Place ($130,000)

Level 28 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante

Ivan Zhang

Stephen Song raised to 600,000 in the cutoff and Ivan Zhang piled all in for 3,700,000 from the big blind. Song didn't hesitate before calling and Zhang was at risk.

Ivan Zhang: K2All in
Stephen Song: AJ

The flop fell J85 and Song picked up a pair of jacks to extend his lead. The 6 on the turn also gave Song the best flush draw, leaving Zhang down to just two outs.

"King!" Zhang could be heard shouting. The river was the 2 which was not enough to keep Zhang's tournament hopes alive.

Huawei Lin Eliminated in 7th Place ($100,000)

Level 28 : Blinds 150,000/300,000, 300,000 ante
Huawei Lin
Huawei Lin

Action folded to the blinds, where Stephen Song raised to 2,200,000 from the small. Huawei Lin just called from the big blind, leaving herself 125,000 behind.

Song checked to Lin, who went all in on the A54 flop. Song called to put her at risk and hands were turned face up.

Huawei Lin: Q6All in
Stephen Song: 109

Neither player had a pair, but Lin was ahead with her queen.

The A turn was safe for Lin, but the 9 river paired Song to end Lin's run in heart-breaking fashion.

Stephen Song raised to 500,000 from under the gun with AK and James Mendoza opted to just call in the hijack with 1010. Marius Gierse also joined the party with A10 in the big blind.

The flop came 1065 and Song continued with a bet of 450,000. Mendoza just called with top set and Gierse also called with his top pair. The turn was the J and Gierse checked to Song who fired out another bet of 800,000. Mendoza raised to 2,200,000 which got quick folds from Gierse and Song.
