Action folded around to the blinds, where James Mendoza shoved for his last 350,000 in the small blind. Ivan Zhang called in the big blind and a showdown was held.
James Mendoza: K♦10♦
Ivan Zhang: 5♣2♦
Mendoza just needed to fade Zhang's live cards to survive, and did just that on the 10♣J♦J♣7♥A♦ runout to give Mendoza a much-needed double up.
Martin Nielsen raised to 400,000 in early position and Jiaming Zhao flat-called from the cutoff. James Mendoza also came along from the big blind and three players went to a flop of Q♣9♥6♣.
Nielsen continued with a bet of 450,000 and Zhao called. Mendoza ripped all in for 2,500,000 and Nielsen also stuck in his stack of 2,400,000. Zhao asked for a count of both stacks and eventually called to put both of his opponents at risk.
Martin Nielsen: A♣A♦
James Mendoza: K♦Q♠
Jiaming Zhao: J♥10♥
The turn was the 10♣ which made things even more interesting. Nielsen's pair of aces was still out front and the 3♥ on the river was a complete brick, allowing Nielsen to triple up. Mendoza collected a very small side pot and the action continued with nine players still at the table.
Jiaming Zhao opened to 450,000 from under the gun with J♣10♣ and was called by Haitao Lei in middle position with A♥4♥ and Stephen Song in the big blind holding K♣2♣.
Song checked to Zhao, who continued for 500,000 on the 9♦2♦5♣ flop. Lei folded and Song called.
Both players checked on the 7♠ turn and Song checked a final time on the J♥ turn.
Zhao bet 1,100,000 with his pair of jacks and Song tanked a bit before letting his pair of deuces go.
Jiaming Zhao raised to 450,000 in early position with A♠3♠ and was called by Patrik Demus on the button with K♣9♥ and Marius Gierse in the big blind with Q♠2♠.
The flop came J♣10♠7♦ and the action checked to Demus who bet 450,000 with his two-way straight draw. Gierse quickly folded but Zhao had other plans as he check-raised to 1,300,000. Demus burned through a couple of time banks before opting to send his cards to the muck.
Marius Gierse opened to 400,000 first to act with Q♦J♣ and was called by Patrik Demus in the small blind holding J♥J♦ and Martin Nielsen in the big blind with 7♣4♣ for a three-way pot.
Action checked to Gierse and he continued for 350,000 on the 9♥3♠3♦ flop. Only Demus called.
The Q♥ fell on the turn and Demus checked — prompting a 1,200,000 bet from Gierse with queens-up. Demus again called.
Demus checked a final time after the J♠ improved him to a full house and Gierse checked behind with his two pair.
Demus showed the goods and Gierse gave a shocked expression seeing he potentially avoided disaster by checking behind.
Marius Gierse raised to 400,000 in middle position with 10♥9♦ and James Mendoza defended from the big blind with Q♣J♠. The flop came A♦Q♥8♥ and Medoza checked to Gierse who bet 300,000 with his straight draw. Mendoza called and the 4♠ landed on the turn.
Mendoza checked again and Gierse sized up a bet of 800,000 on the turn. Mendoza gave it some thought but decided to throw his pair and the best hand into the muck.
Marius Gierse opened to 300,000 from under the gun with J♠8♠ and Ivan Zhang flat-called on the button with a dominating K♥J♥. They went heads-up to a flop of 10♥10♦3♣ and Gierse started with a check. Zhang tossed in a bet of 250,000 and Gierse laid his hand down.
On the next hand, Patrik Demus raised to 300,000 on the button with Q♣2♣ and Gierse defended from the big blind with A♣5♥. The flop fell K♣7♦6♦ and Gierse check-folded to a bet of 375,000 from Demus.
