Gao Wins Monster Three-Way All In

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Steve Anderson opened for 2,400 and received calls from Leon Gao and Jason Sell in the small and big blinds respectively. Two checks on the {2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop saw Anderson move all in for 16,125, and Gao made the call. Sell then thought for a minute before moving all in over the top for 38,175 total, and Gao thought long and hard before making the call.

Sell: {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Anderson: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Gao: {k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Anderson held the best hand with kings, but both his opponents held flush draws. Of course Gao held the best flush draw, but Sell had an open-ended straight draw to fall back on. The dealer burned and turned the {8-Diamonds}, which gave Gao the flush and left both his opponents drawing dead. The meaningless {3-Spades} was put out on the river for good measure, and Gao was pushed the massive pot.

Meanwhile, Sel and Anderson have opted to reenter the tournament.

Two More Put in their Graves

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante
Chad Graves
Chad Graves

We missed the action unfold, but we do know two short stacks got their chips all in preflop and were up against World Series of Poker Circuit ring winner Chad Graves.

Graves: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Short Stack #1: {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
Short Stack #2: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

All three players held an ace, which meant it came down to the kicker. Graves was best in that department, and he held after the board ran out a safe {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

Ranola Runs Queens Into Kings

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

We saw a somber-looking Paul Ranola walking past out desk, and he was kind enough to confirm that he had been eliminated from the tournament.

"I ran queens into kings," the family man explained. Ranola qualified for this event in this morning's $250 qualifier, so at least he's not out the full $1,100 buy-in. Onto the next one for the family man from Madison, Wisconsin.

Last Level for Late Registration and Reentries

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

Level 9 is upon us, and when it comes to an end there will be a 10-minute break. At the end of that, the late registration and reentry options will expire. The tournament clock currently reads 121 of 236 players remaining here on Day 1b. Those numbers may change in the next hour, but whatever the case, we'll have official numbers and payout information for you just as soon as they're made available by the tournament staff.

Kroon Continues to Roll

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

We picked up the action on a {q-Spades}{3-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop when the under-the-gun player checked and Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon bet 2,250 from the cutoff. His opponent called and then checked after the dealer burned and turned the {K-Clubs}. Kroon took the opportunity to bet 4,075, and his opponent thought for a bit before moving all in for a bit over 10,000. Kroon snap-called.

Kroon: {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

Kroon had his opponent's nines dominated with two pair, and all he needed to do was dodge a nine on the river to score the elimination. That's just what he did as the {8-Spades} peeled off.

Kroon in King

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

With around 6,000 in the pot and a flop of {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}, the player in the small blind checked and Mark "P0ker H0" Kroon bet 2,750 from the big. Ross Obbink called from the hijack, the small blind folded, and it was heads-up action to the river, a card we actually missed.

Kroon kept the pressure on with a bet of 2,950, and Obbink called. Kroon rolled over the {k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for a pair of kings, and it was good as Obbink held an inferior pair with the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}.

Meanwhile, Kroon's good friend, Mike "Wisco" Murray, has been eliminated from the tournament.
