Johnson Makes His Move

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Sam Johnson, who was under the gun, pushed in his last 19,000 on a board of {10-Spades}{K-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. The small blind thought for a few moments before eventually calling.

The river blanked and Johnson flipped over a set with {10-}{10-}. The small blind showed their {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} in frustration as their top pair and flush draw wasn't good enough.

Hodge Eliminates Jivkov

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante
Mark Hodge
Mark Hodge

We found Nick Jivkov calling off his stack on a {k-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop, having raised a bet from Mark Hodge and seen the Mid-States Poker Tour points leader jam all in.

Jivkov: {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Hodge: {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}

Hodge faded the draw despite Jivkov picking up a gutter on the {6-Clubs} turn. The former MSPT champ wished everyone good luck before exiting.

Pham Loses a Chunk

Level 7 : 250/500, 50 ante

Neng Vang bet 1,500 on the button, and Christian Pham made it 3,000 from the big blind on the {q-Clubs}{k-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop. Vang shoved all in for 14,850, and Pham sighed and called.

Pham: {k-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Vang: {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}

Pham was in awful shape with an inferior kicker and one of his outs dead, and running hearts on the last two streets didn't help Pham.

Hartmann Cruising Early

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Tony Hartmann, pictured in a different event.

We caught up with the action on a flop of {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and the small blind bet into Tony Hartmann for 1,600. Hartmann, who has more than $1 million in earnings on the tournament circuit, raised it from the cutoff to 4,500. The small blind thought for a moment and called.

The turn brought the {K-Spades} and they both checked. The river bricked and the small blind checked. Hartmann bet out 4,000 and the small blind eventually called. Hartmann flipped over {A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and grew his stack to about 50,000.

Romer Doubles Through Vang

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante
Kou Vang
Kou Vang

Bill Romer checked in a blind battle against Kou Vang, who bet 4,225 on a {4-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} board. Romer said something inaudible and raised to 9,000. Vang called, seeing a {10-Diamonds} river.

"I don't have a choice," Romer said, shoving his 9,025 forward. Vang took about a minute before flicking in a call.

"Full house," Romer said, turning over {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}.

Innes Flops Huge

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Todd Innes called a 7,500 four-bet in the big blind against an opponent in middle position, and {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades} flopped. Innes checked, his opponent shoved all in for about 11,000, and Innes snap-called.

Innes: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Opponent: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}

"So bad at poker," the player with ace-king said, though it was unclear if he was talking about himself or his opponent. The {2-Diamonds} turn left him drawing dead.

Ford Ropes in Big Pot

Level 5 : 150/300, 25 ante

Joe Ford was under the gun and led out for 9,000 into a pot of about 12,000 on a board reading {4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}. The player in second position thought for a few minutes before another player called the clock.

The tournament director then came over to begin counting down. The player in second position eventually called and Ford gave him the bad news, as he rivered two-pair with {A-}{9-} while the player in second position showed {A-}{K-}.

Ford now has about 60,000.
