Wahdan on the Upswing

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

It's been a frustrating few bullets for Nader Wahdan today, but he appears to be getting something going after making a big hand and getting paid off.

Three players saw a {7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop and the preflop raiser bet 3,000 from under the gun. Wahdan called on the button and big blind Aaron Frei mucked. On the {7-Spades} turn, both players checked, bringing an {8-Clubs}. The early player bet 7,000 and Wahdan made it 17,000. His opponent called and Wahdan showed {q-Spades}{7-Hearts} for a full house.

Livingston Unlucky

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Kevin Palmer got it all in for 10,400 out of the blinds, but he ran into the {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} of Matt Livingston in the cutoff.

"He's getting the big hands," Palmer said ruefully, showing {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}.

The dealer spread a flop of {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, though, giving Palmer a huge lead with trips.

"...But I get the lucky flop."

Palmer secured the double when the {7-Clubs} turn and {6-Spades} river ran out.

Leitch Doubles Through Novotny

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

Brian Leitch made it 7,000 to go from the small blind and got action from Karen Novotny. Leitch shoved the rest in, about 28,000, on the {5-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop. Novotny called him after thinking briefly.

Novotny: {6-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Leitch: {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}

Novotny had some outs with her draw, but the {j-Hearts} and {k-Spades} on the turn and river just brought paint that helped nobody.

Mader's First Bullet a Blank

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Phil Mader
Phil Mader

With {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds} on the board, Phil Mader had checked and his opponent in early position, Maxx Holland, set him in for about 12,000. Mader thought awhile and then splashed in some chips, but his {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} was no good against {k-Spades}{9-Spades} for a turned flush.

"Did he call me with a pair of jacks?" Holland asked in disbelief after Mader left.

Mader headed right back in line and drew a seat at the same table, so he'll have a chance to get his chips back.

Nut Straight Only Earns McEvoy a Chop

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

After a Rich Dixon open to 1,300 and two calls, Aaron McEvoy shoved in the big blind for 14,600. Action folded back to the small blind, who called in fairly short order.

Each player held {k-}{q-}, and they made king-high straights on the river to split the pot.

Frei's Small Bet Wins

Level 6 : 300/500, 500 ante

Aaron Frei raised to 2,700 from the big blind over a couple of limps, and {6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts} flopped with Frei heads up against the hijack. Frei bet 2,000 and his opponent called. Both players checked the {8-Spades}, and the river was an {a-Hearts}.

Frei bet 3,000 and his opponent shook his head and folded.

Players are now on break for 10 minutes.
