Shin Flops Top Pair

Level 9 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

There was a small pile in the middle from a single-raised pot and four-way action on a flop of {4-Hearts}{2-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. The small blind was first to act and checked to put action on a player in early position, who also checked. Mike Shin was next to act, on the player's left and also in early position. The final player in the hand was Jason Seitz, who was on the button.

Seitz bet 4,000 and saw two folds to put action back on Shin, who made the call. Both players then checked the turn {a-Diamonds} and river {q-Spades} to take the hand to showdown.

Shin tabled {8-Spades}{7-Spades} for what was a flopped top pair that became third pair by showdown. Nonetheless, it was good as Seitz sent his cards to the muck and the pot was shipped to Shin.

Shen Eliminates Wazwaz

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Li Shen
Li Shen

A player in middle position opened to 2,100 and was called by Steve Wazwaz, who was in the hijack. Li Shen was on the button and also called, as did the big blind, and the four saw the flop come {10-Spades}{q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

The big blind and original raiser both checked to Wazwaz, who put out a bet of 7,200. Shen pumped it up to 20,000 to get two folds and put action back on Wazwaz, who went all in for not much more. Shen called.

"Do you have two pair?" asked Wazwaz as he tabled {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.

Shen confirmed he did, showing {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

"Every time!" said Wazwaz, in need of improving to stay alive. The turn came {6-Hearts} to cut his number of chances in half, and the river {a-Hearts} did not bring him any justice. He shook the hand of tablemate Saad Ghanem and congratulated Shen on a nice hand as he left the tournament area for the evening.

Thomas Dusts an Opponent

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Lisa Thomas
Lisa Thomas

A player got all in from middle position for his last 12,000 or so and received action from Lisa Thomas, who was in the big blind.

All-In Player: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Lisa Thomas: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

The flop {5-Hearts}{j-Spades}{q-Spades} gave Thomas a sweat as her opponent picked up four outs to Broadway, but the turn {7-Hearts} and river {8-Diamonds} left the player dry and the pot was shipped her way.

Madl Blasts the Turn

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Randy Madl was in the cutoff and called a hijack open to 1,600. The big blind defended and the three players saw a flop of {q-Spades}{5-Spades}{10-Spades}. The big blind and hijack both checked.

Madl fired out 4,500 and the big blind quickly folded. The hijack called.

The turn came {5-Clubs} and the hijack checked again. Madl slid forward his remaining chips, causing the dealer to throw an all-in button out in front of him. The hijack then thought for about 10 seconds and sent his cards to the muck.

Ozturk Wins on the River

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Umut Ozturk
Umut Ozturk

Johanssy Joseph opened the action with a raise to 1,500 and received two calls from Umut Ozturk on the button and Travis Lauson in the big blind. The flop came {2-Hearts}{j-Spades}{10-Spades} and Lauson checked. Joseph made a continuation-bet of 2,000 and Ozturk put in a raise to 4,500. Lauson cold-called and Joseph called behind.

All three players checked the turn {4-Spades} and the river fell {2-Clubs}. Lauson and Joseph both checked to put action onto Ozturk, who bet 6,500. Lauson quickly folded.

Joseph was then faced with a decision and went into the tank for over a minute before letting his cards go.

Flop Raise Works for Rogowski

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Andy Rogowski
Andy Rogowski

Aaron Massey saw action folded to him in the hijack and opened to 1,300. Andy Rogowski was on the button and called, as did the small blind to take action three ways to the streets.

The flop came {4-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades} and the small blind checked. Massey made a continuation-bet of 1,900 to put action onto Rogowski, who threw in a raise to 5,100. The small blind folded.

With action back on Massey, he went into the tank for close to two minutes and then sent his cards forward from the five-seat into the center of the table for the dealer to muck, resulting in Rogowski taking down the pot.
