All of the chips got in the middle preflop between Greg Geller, who was on the button and John Taitt who was in the big blind and at risk for his tournament life.
John Taitt:
Greg Geller:
Taitt was way out in front and never had a concern as the board ran out , earning him the double just before his table broke, meaning the tournament now has 30 players remaining.
Registration has officially closed as of the beginning of Level 13 and Day 1a saw a total of 161 entries. The day is still scheduled to play 15 complete levels, though a hard-stop will occur if the 12%-figure of 19 players is reached before the completion of Level 15.
Two players limped in and a player in middle position shoved all in over the limps. Another player in the cutoff went all in over the top and Alexander Gross proceeded to give both all-in players action on the button. All remaining players folded and the three-way all in was primed for a runout.
Middle Position:
Cutoff:
Alexander Gross:
Gross was happy to see his two overcards were live against both players and was able to hit a king on the flop . The turn and river completed the runout with his kings up remaining best and he scored the double knockout, vaulting his stack up to 384,000 in the process.
Nate Zoller opened the action with a raise to 11,000 in early position and action folded around to the small blind, who three-bet all in for 60,000. Zoller thought for about 20 seconds and then made the call.
Small Blind:
Nate Zoller:
Zoller was poised for a knockout and had a small scare as the first card on the flop gave his opponent one of his necessary three outs. However, a jack came behind it and put Zoller even further out in front. He faded the two remaining sevens in the deck on both the turn and river and sent his opponent to the rail with around 10 minutes left in the penultimate level of the night, bringing his stack to 248,000 along the way, well above the average stack in the room with 26 players remaining.
