$360 Regional Event

Day 1a Started

Welcome to Day 1a of the 2020 Mid-States Poker Tour Golden Gates $360 Regional

It’s a new decade and the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) is hitting the ground running after surpassing $100 million in total prizes awarded at the end of 2019. Day 1a of the 2020 MSPT Golden Gates $360 Regional Event is first up for the year and cards are set to fly at noon local time.

The MSPT had two $360 Regional Events at the Golden Gates Poker Parlour in 2019. The first was in April and a familiar face to Black Hawk in Aaron Frei claimed victory via a three-way chop for $36,968. He then successfully defended his title in November, earning another $36,607 to come out on top of a four-way chop in wire-to-wire fashion after claiming both the Day 1a and overall Day 1 chip leads prior to Sunday’s Day 2.

This tournament features starting stacks of 25,000 and a guaranteed prize pool of $150,000 and offers four initial starting flights from Wednesday through Saturday. Levels will be 30 minutes in length for the entirety of the tournament and there will be 15-minute breaks at the completion of every four levels. Late registration will remain open until the beginning of Level 13.

Unlimited reentry is available and players may join as many flights as they wish. However, any player who advances can only enter a subsequent flight if they forfeit their stack. Play is scheduled to continue until whichever comes first between the end of Level 15 (3,000/5,000/5,000) and the field reaching 12% of its total entries for the day, at which point all remaining players will bag and tag their chips for the night. All players to advance across the four initial flights will then return Sunday for Day 2 to play down to a winner.

Will Frei be able to make it three in a row, or will somebody else claim the first MSPT Regional title of 2020? PokerNews will be on hand all tournament long until that very question has been answered. Be sure to stick around and find out.
