A couple more familiar faces to the Golden Gates Poker Parlour in Danny Gonzales, Greg Gius, and Patrick Suzuki have been seen in their seats having registered the tournament since the break. Gonzales fell just short of finding a bag on Day 1a and is back in action again, while Suzuki and Gius are hoping to find a Day 2 bag on their first bullets of the tournament.

Eads Doubles and More

James Eads opened the action with a raise to 1,200 under the gun and saw seven players call, one of which was Phillip Gioia on Eads' direct left. The flop came and both blinds checked to Eads, who went all in for 10,200.

Action folded around to the big blind, who went into the tank for about 90 seconds before announcing that she would call.

Eads was out in front with his top pair and further improved on the turn . Though it did not change the number of outs he would need to fade, it also would not matter as the river fell clean and scored him the pot.

Newton Doubles Again

All of the chips got into the middle on a flop of with action between Michael Rankins, who was under the gun, and David Newton in early position. Rankins covered.

Both players hit the flop hard and Rankins found his top two pair up against Newton's straight, putting Newton in great shape for another double. He needed to fade Rankins' outs to a full house and did just that as the turn and river completed the runout.

Wilkie Doubles Back Near Starting Stack

There was 6,500 in the middle with three-way action between Steve Wilkie in the big blind as well as the players in the cutoff and on the button. Action was on the flop with the board reading .

Wilkie checked to the cutoff, who bet 3,300. The player on the button folded and Wilkie called, taking action heads up to the turn . Both players checked.

The dealer burned and turned the river and Wilkie flung in a T5,000 chip. The dealer threw out a red all-in button, signifying that was the last of his cihps, and his opponent thought for a few seconds before tossing in a chip to call.

Wilkie tabled for trip sevens and his opponent turned over his hand with only the visible. The dealer grabbed the hand and looked quickly at the second card before mucking the hand and shipping the pot Wilkie's way.

Newton Gets a Dub

David Newton limped in from middle position and saw the cutoff limp in behind him. The player on the button then raised it up to 1,600 and received a call from the small blind. Newton then limp-shoved all in for his last 8,000 or so, and received only a call from the small blind.

The two were off to the races with Newton slightly out in front going to the flop. He pulled ahead and saw his hand remain best the whole way as the board ran out to earn him the double.
