Tryba Tramples Cowboys

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Chris Tryba
Chris Tryba

Chris Tryba opened to 9,000 in middle position and was three-bet all in by Stuart Brown for 26,000. Action made its way back to Tryba and he made the call.

Stuart Brown: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Chris Tryba: {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

The flop was {a-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}, giving Tryba an open-ended straight draw and flush draw. Brown still had a sweat after the turn {j-Spades}, but his hopes of survival were dashed as the river {5-Diamonds} completed everything Tryba needed to earn him the pot and the knockout.

"I love that hand," said tablemate Nader Wahdan.

"Me too," Tryba replied.

Kurtz Hits the Showers

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Kevin Kurtz in Day 1b action
Kevin Kurtz in Day 1b action

Kevin Kurtz limped in from early position and action folded around to Alex Smith, who completed his small blind. The big blind checked his option and the flop dropped {4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Clubs}. Both blinds checked and Kurtz shoved all in for 39,000. Smith thought for a few moments and then called, prompting a fold from the big blind.

Kevin Kurtz: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}
Alex Smith: {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

Smith found himself way out in front after making the call with a middling top pair and was able to fade the two outer on the turn {k-Spades} and river {7-Spades} to win the pot, leaving Kurtz dry on chips nearing the end of Level 13.

Perryman Doubles Through Tito

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Michael Tito had a put in a raise with two T5,000 chips in front of him on the button after action folded to him. Jules Perryman was next to act in the small blind and three-bet all in for 19,000. Tito called and hands were tabled for the runout.

Jules Perryman: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}
Michael Tito: {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}

Perryman was in front but had two live cards to fade. The flop {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{10-Clubs} changed that, giving him two pair and leaving Tito in need of hitting running cards to get any portion of the pot. The turn came {q-Diamonds} to bring the possibility of Broadway on board for a chop, but the river fell {4-Clubs} to leave Perryman's hand best and earn him the double.

Level 13 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante

Registration has officially closed as of the beginning of Level 13 and the total number of entries for the flight has been confirmed at 319, bringing the three-day total up to 687. There are less than three levels of play left in the evening, so stay tuned to see who else makes it.

In the meantime, the following players have been eliminated from the tournament recently and will not be among those to find a bag when play concludes at the end of the evening.

"Never a Doubt"

Steve Wilkie

A player went all in for 19,000 from early position and Steve Wilkie reraised all in from middle position. All remaining players folded.

All-In Player: {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}
Steve Wilkie: {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The flop came {5-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} to give Wilkie a gutshot straight draw to go along with his two live cards. The turn {q-Hearts} changed nothing, leaving him with one more chance to get the elimination. The river then fell {j-Clubs} to give WIlkie with two pair, queens and jacks and earn him the pot and the knockout.

"Never a doubt," said Jason Vanstrom, who was on Wilkie's left.

"Never," confirmed Danny Gonzales on Vanstrom's direct left.

Giampetro Gets a KO

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

Joseph Giampetro had seen action fold to him in the small blind and raised into his opponent in the big blind, who three-bet all in for 22,500. Giampetro called.

Small Blind: {k-Spades}{5-Spades}
Joseph Giampetro: {a-Spades}{7-Hearts}

The small blind was behind and his odds only got worse as the flop fell {8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}, putting him in need of running straight or flush cards to stay alive. The turn {7-Clubs} gave him four immediate outs at a gutshot, but none came as the river fell {8-Hearts} to complete the runout with Giampetro's aces up best to earn him the pot.
