Sparrow Flops Top Pair

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante

A player limped in under the gun and action folded around to the player on the button, who limped in behind. The small blind pumped it up to 1,400 and received calls from Donovan Sparrow in the big blind as well as both limpers.

The flop fell {5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and the small blind made a continuation-bet of 2,000. Only Sparrow called, taking action heads up to the turn {9-Spades}. The small blind checked and Sparrow put out a bet of 2,000, which was called.

The river was {a-Diamonds} and both players checked, with Sparrow tabling {k-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for a pair of kings upon checking behind. His opponent mucked and the pot ws shipped his way.

Hinde Sits In and Doubles

Level 3 : 200/300, 300 ante
Michael Hinde
Michael Hinde

Michael Hinde had not been seated long and was all in from early position for a starting stack, shoving into Khoa Nguyen who had 11,000 already out in front of him from middle position. Nguyen thought for a bit and then called.

Michael Hinde: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Khoa Nguyen: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

Nguyen nodded as he saw what he was up against, realizing he needed help to win the pot. However, the board ran out blank, coming {7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{7-Hearts} to leave Hinde's kings up best to score him the double at Nguyen's expense.

Sanchez Takes It on the Turn

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

A player under the gun opened the action with a raise to 600 and was called by Jeff Moskowitz in early position, Jesus Sanchez in the hijack, and the players on the button and in the small blind. Hector Guerra-Alvarez then defended from the big blind to take postflop action six ways.

The flop came {4-Clubs}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds} and action checked to Sanchez, who bet 2,500. Only the player on the button called.

With action heads up, the turn fell {k-Clubs} and Sanchez bet another 4,000.

"Not the turn card for me," said his opponent, flashing {a-Diamonds} before sending his cards to the muck.

Furthermore, Keith Wright was seen standing up engaged in a conversation with another person, no longer in the seat he formerly occupied at this same table. Another player had filled the seat, meaning he has been eliminated from the tournament for the time being.

Bruce Falls To England

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Connie Bruce
Connie Bruce

Khoa Nguyen saw action folded to him in the hijack and opened to 800. He received calls from Connie Bruce in the cutoff and the player on the button to put action onto Raleigh England in the small blind. England three-bet to 4,000 and the big blind cold-called behind. Nguyen folded, and then Bruce and the player on the button called.

"Four players," said the dealer, spreading a flop of {4-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{q-Clubs}. Action checked to Bruce and she ripped in her remaining 6,200. Only England called.

Connie Bruce: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Raleigh England: {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}

"I just thought a three was coming," said Bruce upon being called. Unfortunately for her, a three did not come as the turn {a-Clubs} and river {j-Clubs} completed the runout and sent her to the rail. Meanwhile, England now has over 65,000 and is off to a fast start on the day.

Wilkie In, Out, and Back In

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante

Steve WIlkie was seen taking his seat at Table 13 shortly after the tournament began. However, it wasn't long before his first bullet ran dry.

"Pocket kings," said Wilkie on his way back to the registration desk. "Raise, reraise, and then I make it 5,000. Guy calls with ace-ten and the flop comes ten-ten-eight."

Wilkie did not get back in on the action immediately but has just sat down at Table 9 with a fresh stack of chips ready to get back to business.

England Punishes the Ladies

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante
Raleigh England
Raleigh England

The small blind had a bet of 4,000 in front of him into a pot of over 6,000 with action on the flop. The board read {6-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and action was on Raleigh England in middle position.

"All in," said England. His opponent thought for about a minute and then announced a call.

Small Blind: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Raleigh England: {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

England's flopped trips were out in front of his opponent's queens up and was able to fade the two outer as the turn {k-Diamonds} and river {j-Spades} completed the runout.

Ellson Raises the River

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante

There was around 1,200 in the middle on a flop of {7-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} with three-way action that checked to Edward Ellson in the hijack. He bet 2,000 and was check-raised to 4,000 by Rickey Mosier in the small blind. The other player in the hand folded and Ellson made the call.

Action then went heads up to the turn {2-Clubs} and both players checked, bringing the river {k-Hearts}. Mosier took three T1,000 chips and put them down onto the felt, flicking them forward so that all three were individually visible. Ellson thought for a few moments and then put out a raise to 7,000. Mosier quickly sent his cards to the muck and the pot was shipped Ellson's way.
