Goetze Given a Gift

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

A player raised to 2,000 under the gun and John Goetze called on his direct left. A player in middle position then three-bet to 7,500 and action folded back to the original opener, who called. Goetze called as well, and the three players saw the flop come {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

The under-the-gun player checked to put action onto Goetze, who wasted no time betting 6,000. The three-bettor in middle position reraised all in just as quickly, committing his last 15,600. Action was then back on under the gun, and he looked bewildered as he went into the tank for nearly three full minutes. Eventually, he shook his head and tossed his cards to the muck. Goetze then picked up one chip from his stack and set it on top of his initial bet to signify a call.

All-In Player: {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
John Goetze: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

Goetze found himself way in front as the all-in player had shoved with nothing more than a gusthot wheel draw. The turn {6-Hearts} doubled his total outs as he picked up a backdoor open-ended straight draw, but it bricked on the river {5-Spades} and Goetze took down the pot as the other player made his way from the tournament area.

Big Blind Special Does Devers Right

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante
Sam Devers
Sam Devers

A player in middle position raised to 1,600 and received a call from the hijack. Action then folded around to Sam Devers, who defended his big blind to take three-way action to a flop of {a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}. Devers checked to the original opener, who made a continuation-bet of 2,200. The hijack called, putting action back onto Devers.

Devers check-raised to 8,500 and the original raiser went all in over the top. The hijack re-shoved, putting Devers all in as well, and Devers quickly made the call.

Middle Position: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Sam Devers: {4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Hijack: {5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}

Devers had flopped a wheel and gotten stacks in against top pair and bottom two pair. The turn {k-Spades} and river {7-Clubs} left the situation unchanged and both pots were shipped his way, bringing his stack up to 145,000 with the won pot.

England Over Six Figures

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Kyna England
Kyna England

There was around 8,000 in the middle from preflop action and three players saw a flop of {10-Spades}{a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}. Kyna England was first to act in early position and checked to Thai Dinh, who was in the hijack. Dinh bet 2,300 and the final player in the hand called on the button. England also called.

All three players checked the turn {5-Clubs}, bringing the river {8-Spades} on board. England led out, betting 12,000, and Dinh quickly shot his cards across the felt to the muck pile. The player on the button then put chips into the pot to call and take the hand to showdown.

England tabled {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts} for the nuts, earning the pot with her queen-high straight. Her opponent showed {10-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} for a no-good two pair and the pot was shipped to England, who now finds herself north of 100,000 after winning the pot.

Aces Up Good for Wiegman

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante
Cody Wiegman
Cody Wiegman

There was around 13,000 in the middle on a board reading {5-Clubs}{a-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and action was heads up between a player in early position and Cody Wiegman, who was on the button. The early-position player bet 11,000, nearly half his stack, and Wiegman raised enough to put him all in. The player deliberated for their last 12,000 and eventually tossed it into the middle.

All-In Player: {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}
Cody Wiegman: {a-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

The all-in player was drawing to only a nine for a chop and it didn't come as the river {3-Spades} completed the board, giving him an inferior two pair and resulting in his elimination from the tournament at Wiegman's expense.
