[Removed:609] Takes Down Winter Poker Classic Event #5: $250 NLH Turbo Super Stack

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the $1,100 Main Event, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about some of the side events that have taken place out over the past week at the Winter Poker Classic.

In Event #5: $250 NLH Turbo Super Stack, 135 entries created a $27,000 prize pool that was paid out to the top 15 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Alan Baker (15th - $459), Jeff Petronack (14th - $459), Leo Fussy (13th - $459), Ryan Arnold (11th - $554), and Nick Anderson (10th - $554).

In the end, it was [Removed:609] who collected every chip in play to capture the WPC trophy, along with first-place $4,335 payday.

Johnson Turns Trips for Double Elimiantion

There was three-way action after a {6-Spades}{q-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop which included Ty Johnson from the hijack.

The player under the gun led out with a bet and Johnson called before the button player squeezed for 13,200. The player under the gun called, as did Johnson and the {q-Clubs} paired the board on the river.

The player under the gun led out for 10,000 and then called off their 32,900 stack after Johnson raised all in for 33,700.

Philips Wins After Check Raising Nuthak

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Jay Philips raised from under the gun and Chris Nuthak called from the button.

The flop came {7-Spades}{q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and Philips check-raised to 10,000 after Nuthak fired out 2,300. With only 7k in the middle, Nuthak decided to let his hand go and showed {k-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}.

In Event #4: $250 NLH Seniors (50+), 219 entries created a $43,800 that was paid out to the top 24 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Dan Hendrickson (20th - $486), Thomas Gjerde (18th - $591), Roger Gill (14th - $657), Steve Fredlund (13th - $657), and Steven Flynn (10th - $788).

In the end, it was Minnesota native Paul Eidem who collected every chip in play to capture the WPC trophy, along with first-place $10,953 payday.
